Anyone tried dying a Basic Fun pony?
« on: July 22, 2020, 11:09:55 AM »
They don't seem as porous as the 80s ponies so I feel like regular RIT dye wouldn't work so well on them, but what about RIT Dyemore?  Anyone tried it?  Does it work?  I'm afraid to take the plunge, lol.

No! And you know, I didn't even consider the squishiness of the plastic as a risk for lack of porousness, either! I have an extra Snuzzle here, I was debating giving her some gradient tips!

I did dye one of the super-hard 25th anniversary ponies, and she took dye like a champ! So in her case, the hard plastic wasn't a deterrent; just a deterrent to me trying to get her silly head off in one piece! :P If I ever get around to it, I'll update you!

So far I've had pretty good lucky dying harder vinyl and even resin with Rit dyemore, so I think it would be worth a try!

Thanks, guys!  I have a Basic Fun Parasol with discoloration (one of the scented ones), I think I'll try dying her this evening!

Ritdye more will dye any type of plastic/vinyl so as long as the dye brand you use is for use on things like plastics your good to go
