SNES or Genesis?

Let's settle the 16-bit wars once and for all. Which was the better consoles, the SNES or the Sega Genesis/Megadrive?

Personally, I think the SNES's better 3rd party support and controller make it the winner.

SNES. I think it is still my favorite console, too. I still have mine. And my Link to the Past cartridge.

SNES forever--Final Fantasy IV. It had lots of other great games, but that's the one I immediately think of. I'd love to see Nintendo do a mini SNES like they did with the NES. I'd probably buy that.

I think console wars are kind of silly. What matters to me is that the games are fun. Not who made them, or the system specs.

That said, I like both, but the Genesis will always hold a special place in my heart, since those were the games I used to play with my dad.

I agree with this. I like them both for different reasons. It's hard to pick "the best" when it comes down to it.

I grew up with a Sega Genesis though, so I'll always pick that. Sonic games were my favorite as a kid, and the Sega TV channel was the greatest thing ever when I was at my aunt and uncle's place (they didn't have a Genesis).

That said, I'm a total Nintendo fangirl now.

I love both, but if I had to pick, SNES all the way. Some of my absolute favorite games of all time were on SNES, and while I really liked some Genesis games, none of them rank as all time faves (for me) - though Genesis does hold a special place in my heart because little kid me worked a bunch of extra chores so I could get one from a pawn shop so I could play Sonic The Hedgehog. ^^*

Still, have to give it to SNES overall.

I'm a biased Genesis girl because we never had an SNES. But I also never owned an actual Genesis to play on (had PC ports and plug n play). I just prefer it's games. Currently trying to get my hands on an actual Genesis.

I love all old consoles though

Yes, I do want to add that my preference isn't so much about what is 'better'. It's about what I had. That said, the game I listed is my favorite game of all time so I'm fairly sure the answer would still stand.

SNES is my favourite console period. It has most of my favourites.

To be honest, I've never even played Genesis, or a single Genesis game. I'm not really into Sonic outside the Dreamcast games, and that's more for the Chao Gardens than the actual gameplay. I prefer the red plumber any day. To each their own, right?
