Ever sold something you later regret selling? Story time!!
« on: July 29, 2015, 06:40:26 PM »
Admit it! Most of us have done it. Myself included. Years ago, I sold a vintage Littlest pet Shop Target Easter exclusive set of the mom and babies MOC since I had  gotten 2 of them. I didn't have a job at the time so I figured I'd sell one set to get money for more I wanted. I sold them on an lps message board (now defunct) for a small amount. I now wish I had kept it instead so I'd have it at my dads house in my other room. Seeing them on ebay now for outrageous prices makes me sad.

Another lps set I sold was a near complete saddle filly and little drinking filly set I also wish I kept. They both went to an ebay buyer for $20 total. I'm glad someone got a deal, but now I wish I just hung on to them, but like I said earlier, this was the only to get more spending money at the time. That was 8 years ago so now these sets go for much more than what I sold mine for because they are popular sets and rarely pop up on ebay. I won another set recently for $50 but feel I overpaid because it's missing a couple of accessories and have thought about just re selling it instead of trying to track down the accessories which I know will be hard and possibly more costly.

These are just a few of the stories I have of sellers remorse, but I'm sure there are even worse cases where something got sold or traded. So what are yours? :)

My biggest regret wasnt so much a sale.. I gave away all my Polly Pocket's to my cousin after she badgered me about it all day. :/ I had TONS of the compacts and all of the houses. u.u I still DEEPLY regret that. Now they dont even make them like that anymore. :c I wish I had at least kept the tree house lol, that one was my favorite.

Then not such a big deal, but once I sold all my original sims1 games/expansions for $10. xD I was young and $10 sounded like a bad idea, but it was still money in my eyes. I felt pretty dumb about it by the end of the day.

Not...... Really...... I've always been careful not to sell things until I was certain I wouldn't want them back.

The only thing I've ever actually 'sold' was Yoshi's Island DS toward credit to get Pokemon Diamond. I don't regret that. Especially since I now have Yoshi's Island DS on my Wii U. lol

Nope. I only sell things when I need to sell them or no longer want them. I did sell my pony collection a few years ago, and I've slowly bought some back. I don't regret it though as I was in a tight fix for money at the time and it needed to be done. Nope no regrets.

I had a variant FS Luna with glitter wings but no tinsel in her hair, and I'm really upset I sold her :(

I also sold my BaB Rarity not because I didn't love her, but because I got her with my abusive dad and I hated that memory associated with her. But I really miss her and desperately want a BaB Rarity again someday.

I found a fashion size (or whatever they are called--don't collect them myself) first-release G4 Applejack in KMart one day.  I think I sold her to a collector here for a little above cost.  I regret not holding on to her longer before reselling her, given how her price shot up once it became obvious that she was going to be pretty scarce....

It's funny, though--I've had ponies and FT birds that came in lots with something I wanted and I resold them, only to develop a liking for them later and have to hunt them down again!

Yes, I regret selling quite a few of my childhood toys:

1) My MLP collection, especially Windy, Mirror Mirror, Waverunner, Raspberry Jam & Blueberry Baskets

2) My ExoSquad collection

3) My Fantasy Fillies, especially since their value has gone up so much.

Sold, no.  Thrown away, yes! :(

Same here. I threw away my entire keychain virtual pet collection. Dang, I could have sold them for a lot of money.

Back in the late 90s, before I knew of ebay I had some animation cels from Sailor Moon with original backgrounds. I met an online dealer who said they would trade them for some MLP cels and a (sight unseen) 'baby' care bear. I wound up getting pony cels that are now super common and the 'baby' care bear was just Tenderheart from a far away shot. I know I lost  lot of money in that deal, but at least I've grown wiser! ;)
