How do you know when a pony is bait?
« on: June 06, 2012, 08:33:35 PM »
I have a G3 Frilly Frocks I found a while ago in horrible condition. Her body, eyes, and cutie mark have mold. Her mane and tail are cut and has mold AND rust. She rattles when you shake her, and shes really squishy, like shes full of... something. I just want to know if she is bait worthy or not, and if she is rare.

Thank you!

I don't think Frilly Frocks is rare and she definitely sounds like bait to me!

MOLD?! @_@ Woah! And here I thought g3s were too 'young' to have mold!

Well, judging by the description you're giving, I'd say poor Frilly Frocks is in need of a serious makeover! She's not rare, as far as I know, but judging by that condition, she's gonna need a complete overhaul either way! So I'd say - go ahead and bait! But that would just be my opinion. :)

It doesn't take long for a pony to get mold if it hasn't been treated right. If it was left outside or played with in the tub any plastic toy will get mold really quick.

Many people frown on baiting G1s even if they are in reaaaaaaally bad condition as there just aren't that many of them. G3s however, there are so many, that unless they are rare G3s you can bait away to your hearts content :) There is a website somewhere with a list of rare G3s you shouldn't bait, I can't find it but hopefully someone will come along with it :) I don't think FF is that rare so she should be OK for a transformation :)

To me 'bait' is when it's completely unfixable....for example mold, cancer, hair scalped, little to no symbols left.

However G3s are two a penny, and even if they aren't in bad condition they are usually fair game to bait anyway ;)

Hope Gabumon's link helps...  In my opinion, all ponies are restorable, even if they need new hair and re-sculpting.

I generally don't consider mold or dirt a criteria for bait because it has to be washed off to customize anyway; I look at the condition after cleaning. However, since we're talking about a G3 that's apparently not rare, that may not really matter anyway.

What do you mean her eyes and symbol have mold?

She has small splotches all over her body, including her eyes. Her cutie mark also has a large splotch on it. She was left in my backyard in a water-soaked cardboard for about...  5 years, I believe. She definately has something growing inside her.

Oh, she's also covered in nail polish. How do I go about that? :) thank you everyone fo your answers! :)

Hahaha, omg poor girl! I´m a beyond curious to see what grows in her ^^ it would be awesome if you could take pics of her as she is and just try to clean her up, for practice if anything, and see how far you can go. as mentioned above, even a bait has to be cleaned to be ussed ^^

and I absolutely second Gabumon's link

^This for me too! I think that pretty much sums it all up

Edit: Acetone or nail polish remover will get the nail polish although it depends on whether this has soaked into her plastic or not as to whether more severe treatment is needed! Good luck...you should do "before" and "after" pictures of her

I've actually seen G4s with mold actually visibly growing on them. Ewww..

If she's special to you in any way, I'd say restore her but otherwise do whatever you'd like with her! She sounds like she is in pretty icky condition from your description but I'm pretty curious to see what she looks like... :ninja:
