rehairing with tinsel
« on: April 10, 2013, 05:04:05 AM »
I'm about to rehair a frizzy g3 butterscotch and a faded g3 minty, and was wondering the best way to tinsel. Should I put it in with the plug of hair, or do all the hair first then all the tinsel? (if that makes sense)

When I rehired with tinsel I added a strand with each of the hair plugs. Adding hair and then tinsel after would just be too time consuming for me.

Yeah I reckoned that too, but every tinsel hair I look at seems to have it's tinsel on the outer. I'm not particularly bothered, but my 5 yo is shall we say a little fussy!!

The tinsel I'm currently using is from my little customs, but I also got some from eBay (hair pieces :)) and from fishing shops!! Yeah I'm rehairing first then tinseling after. The needle just won't pick up the hair and tinsel together. Thanks guys!!

I use sulky thread, they have a tinsel like collection. I find it at Joanns Fabric.

Some hair places like Retrodolls US sells the tinsel separately too. I also rehair then add tinsel into the already haired plugs!
