Your dirtiest fixer upper ponies
« on: April 08, 2013, 08:05:08 PM »
What's your dirtiest fixer upper? Do they have a bad case of rust or lots of pen marks (maybe even Sharpie)? I'd like to see how well they've been fixed.

Currently working on a Tex right now that I originally thought of baiting but after I got him, he looked too nice for it. But he's got an awful case of rust, which I'll post pictures for soon once he's clean.

My dirtiest one, who I haven't actually started cleaning, is a store variant Star Hopper.   She is just a hunk of pony-shaped rust at the moment... it's bad!   Her whole insides are red-orange with rust, and there is blooms of it on her outsides as well.   Just absolutely nasty.   I got her from someone back in December, and I have just been too busy to tackle pony cleaning lately.

My first lot from ebay had a mysterious black/green powder all over most of them.  I think it was dried ink.  Some looked like they had been lying on their side in it.  But most of it washed right off!  There are still some inky spots on a few of them. But just small dots of it as if the pen was pressed harder in those spots.  Otherwise, most of these ponies are very nice...

I think you can see it on Posey around her cutey marks.  It looks like cancer, but these are actually dark green marks.   She actually does have a cancer spot under her tail with a green mark next to it.  Almost for comparison. I'm very happy with her.  Posey is one of my favorites.  Her hair is very very pink, her body is squishy and no rub marks.  You would never guess she had tail rust and black soot all over her back legs and flank.

It's gotta be my G3 Fluttershy. I'm not even sure how you rust a G3 that bad. She's got big blotches of rusty colored patches, her neck seam is rusty, and she's got tail rust. I tried to fix the patches and neck seam but it won't come out.

My G1s are better off than she is and it's weird. My worst G1 is my Firefly and all she needs is an iron for her hair and a good scrub on the inside to take out... whatever the black patches on the inside are.

Wow the clean up on that Gingerbread is amazing!

I dont have before pictures unfortunately, but I once got a Baby Gusty in a trade who was supposed to be lovely but was in terrible condition - she was rust coated on the inside and because she is white it had stained really badly. She was soaked filled with dental tablet 5 or 6 times before I could even start scrubbing!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Thanks, she did turn out really well. She is Perfectly white~ Nearly the color of paper but she had two tinny brown dots (like little needle tip sized) but they weren't pindot or ingrained dirt (I did the treatments for those and the spots didn't budge) Removezit would probably have gotten rid of them but I didn't want to take all the time for that~ She will hopefully be off to her new home this week :)

Lol, I picked them up at a swap meet. They were crammed in one of those big castle collectors cases with about 20 other G1s and the whole thing was caked in mud! I'm still not quite done cleaning the rest of them or the case but it looks like most all of them will turn out minty~

Haha now i get to add this thread to the list!  :D
You did pretty good with the search function - me and search never did get along. Plus I would never have that much time to spend looking for all those, so it is great we have folks with so much time to do it for us and even better yet we belong to a board that does not mind when some asks the question again.

Personally I never tire of seeing how folks fix em up.  Always great to see how folks bring em back to life.  Also great to see new folks getting into it as well.  So keep em coming and keep posting!  I need more eye candy!

Thirty Years of Chiled Abuse And This Is What You Get.
I Boiled her In 3 Oxy-Clean Bathes, Scrubbed Even her Symbol That I don't do.
Her hair is pretty bad but not impossible, she may be worth reharing. Eventually along with my bald sea-pony.

Pin dot mold, rust filled each leg... seriously bad hair, but her symbols and eyes are super minty.

Pin dot mold, rust, haystack hair.

She's had an Oxy product hot water soak. Pulled out her hair since it's not salvageable.
