A sort-of G1 unicorn poll

I don’t know how to make a real poll here on the forum, but I have a question for g1 collectors.

If you were making a piece of fan art with a my little pony unicorn and the last unicorn’s Red Bull, which of the common early ponies would you like to see up against the Red Bull?

With all the retro art stuff that’s been out the last few years, I wanted to avoid some of the ponies that have been used a lot like Glory, Gusty, moon dancer etc. And I love Twilight, but I have sort of gotten tired of twilight sparkle and didn’t want to use our Twilight because a lot of people associate them together as G1-G4 counterparts?

I was thinking about Mimic, as she is usually the “ last unicorn” a lot of us collectors can afford/get. I’m just afraid last unicorn fans will not find mimic as recognizable as glory or twilight.

So let me know who you would use.  Try not to go past the so-soft and twinkle eyes time period.

My first reaction was "Glory or Moondancer" but then I read on... 

There is just something extra appealing about the unicorns with celestial symbols.

Anyway, you could go for Majesty? Maybe Gypsy?
Or you could just turn an earthling or a pegasus into a unicorn. Lord knows Hasbro has swapped species 'a couple of times'... Magic Star was a pegasus and a unicorn in the movie and the series. Sundance would make for a nice fit.

I think my bet would be Majesty. She was the "last boss" type of unicorn character in the comics, so it seems appropriate...

You could always look at Windy or Moonstone though, if you wanted to diversify a bit.

And there's always Sunbeam. She gets forgotten, but she's in that set with Glory, Moondancer and Twilight

Sunbeam is a personal fave of mine.  I’ve drawn her a lot😁. I just feel she wouldn’t be as recognizable as some of the others for what I have planned. Gypsy too, though I love her and her colors, would have poor recognition here in the U.S. as well.
I let Majesty feature up front on my last Last Unicorn piece, so I was gonna spread the love around with some pony else.

Honestly, I'd go for Silver Swirl. Even though the G1 unicorns are the best, they're more like Welsh ponies. Bulky and sturdy

Ooooh Silver Swirl would look really pretty for this.

But if you wanted to stick with G1 but avoid the usual white unicorns, I think Mimic would work too Majesty would be my pick but I can see why the white unicorns might be overdone for something like this.

There are also Skyflier, Sparkler, and Powder, if you want really OG unicorns.  Starflower and Pinwheel, for rainbows.  I know the SS unis are less well known (Buttons, Fifi, Ribbon, Twist).  You could do Galaxy, Fizzy, or Speedy.  At the end of Year 5 there is Milky Way.  She is a little later, but Red Roses is pretty recognizable because everyone wants her!

I'm personally drawn to Twilight, as she'd be most like the last unicorn in character. Mysterious, wise, well-versed in magic (she INSTANTLY recognises the harpy, even her name), & would likely be the last unicorn found, let alone rounded up...
