I can speak to a pony going through a washing machine…..poor Romper was hiding in some blankets and went through the whole wash cycle. :yikes: She survived, but as others have speculated it completely destroyed her hair. It’s been a tangled dry mess ever since. I’ve also been keeping an eye on her to se if she develops any sort of mold. I tried my best to dry her all out but since she was submerged in SO much water I’m still worried about her long term.

I would not trust any pony going through the dishwasher. Even if they had been totally stripped of all their hair and they were going to become bait I’m not convinced they’d withstand the heat and water. I actually have to be careful ordering ponies in the summer because even after sitting in my mailbox they can get soft and deform if they’re not packaged well!

I'm convinced that people are just looking for the life-hack-iest ways to do something that can be done better with a tried and true method (for example using fabric softener for CLOTHES in pony hair instead of conditioner)

Not unless you really hate them(!). Dishwashers don't even get plates clean and I think it's a good way to get trapped water that will fuel mould growth inside the ponies.

But a dishwasher doesn't even fully clean basic plates sometimes

you're plates probably weren't dirty enough XD I found out that the dishes... don't need to be rinsed off before putting in a dishwasher, large food particles scraped off yes but don't bother prewashing them. because then the soap and machine can't actually do the job its supposed to.
