What markings are on the feet of the re releasd G1 ponies?
« on: December 16, 2021, 08:54:48 PM »
There is an auction I'm looking to bid on with a cheap collectors pose pony but the eyes look a bit off, like it's not a fake but it just looks a bit different to the original eye shapes and it made me wonder about ways to tell the difference between the re releases.

I figure first most obvious would be the hoof stamps, I have no idea what the re re have on their feet though, also is the material its made of feel the same as the G1's or is is thinner, thicker not as pliable or whateve?

Mostly I'm asking because I've never seen one out of its packet but I'm sure theres a few here that have ;)

Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate any information

The retro ponies are less squishy than vintage ponies and their feet will have an updated date of their mold.  (For example, retro Skydancer's hoof says 2017.)

They'll also have either Basic Fun or The Bridge Direct stamped on them.  (The company was originally called The Bridge Direct.)

It could also be the 2007 one by Hasbro (not Basic Fun);  those ones had distinctly smaller eyes.  Hasbro made the Collector ponies and the Rainbow ponies (the latter being harder to find.)  They're lower quality than the vintage or Basic Fun ponies, but still interesting.

2017 35th anniversary
(C) 2017 HASBRO - MY LITTLE PONY and serial (?) number - MADE IN CHINA - The BRIDGE DIRECT

not the clearest photos, sorry, but I hope they're at least somewhat helpful!

The 2007 ones also have much brighter colours than either release, and they're noticeably shorter since they're flatfooted instead of concave. (I don't have an 80s FF pony to compare them to so I don't know how tall they are next to one of those)
