how to store ponies?
« on: April 11, 2017, 01:54:04 AM »
hello everyone! i am going to be moving out of my now apartment and taking things to my parents house for a while until i can take everything into my new apartment (wherever it is...). They will have to be in boxes for probably a couple weeks minimum, a few months maximum. what is the best way to make sure none of them get damaged? what risks should i be cautious of? : O
is it true that its safest way to pack them is everybody gets a ziploc bag? or is it sufficient to just.. kind of neatly place them together in the box?

well, i know that a ziploc bag would probably help to ensure that no bleeding occurs from one pony's colors to another.

Here is a great thread from last year about the dos and don'ts of pony storage.

I love these kind of topics, because they've proven really helpful in the past. I will be watching this thread for updates / new advice as well!

A lot of the posts say cool and dry- is there worry about hot and dry? It can get to the 100s in the summer, 0% humidity. Could that cause unforseen problems? I'm not PLANNING one keeping them boxed for longer than a few weeks, but it's good to know for future.

Im new so dont have long term experience with storing ponies but i am absolutely convinced it's bad to close them into bags as it traps them in with any leaking plastcizer etc and sets them up for mold so maybe if you choose plastic use sandwich bags left open.

Many i've bought have their poses squished so i think they should be standing up in shallow boxes one layer deep only and not squashed too tight. Theres a perfect size free box at the post office.

Hope they get to come back out soon!
