She was one of the few ponies I did not like at ALL as a kid.

I think that actually the painted symbol makes her look weirder that way, but I  like the red white and green element of her colour scheme.
Could never stand her character in the animation, though. Nurse Gusty was a better fit for me.

I picked 4 options, have her, have SS, have nirvana and have army, lol. I don't have a huge army (yet) but I have 2 of her US release (childhood and another that I got from someone locally), UK release, So Soft, Italian, NBBE Baby Gusty and Brazillian Baby Gusty. Oh and Sparkle Baby Gusty if that counts.  :hearts: She's my favorite pony

I really need to get some nice collection photos but this is what I have in photobucket

I love Gusty! Her colors somehow work together, and her pose is my favorite. I grew up with the SS version, a very dirty but much-loved thrift store find. Later on I bought the U.S. version on Ebay; it took a while as Gusty was especially popular that season and expensive. I find it interesting that the SS version has olive green eyes while the other version has blueish eyes.

I'd love a Gusty! I'd settle for the standard US version, but would honestly rather a version without glitter symbols. I have too many ponies with glitter loss, my heart can't take it, lol.

Yeah I don't care for glitter symbols either, they are to hard to find and to expensive with nice symbols. Bye are g1 "cutie marks" just called symbols, or did the term cutie marks only come when g3 came around? ( I'm not sure how I don't know this yet  -_-)

I only have US & Scandinavian Gusty, and BBE baby Gusty.. but she's a pony that speaks to me for some reason, and I am always on the lookout for new Gusty's! I'm not sure what it is about her, but she's a favourite. I will have to aquire at least the UK, SS & NBBE baby pony before I am happy with my Gusty collection.

I have both european versions: Gusty with no glittery symbol and Gustavo, aka Italian Gusty.
I made my own baby gusty since she was hard to find and it made me try to customize to a real pony, which came out pretty fine.
I have 2 dyed Gusty, one yellow and another brown.
The only thing I don't like about her is the pose. In the series she was quite upfront, I would have put her in the powder pose at least. But it's ok. She was the first pony I bought when I started collecting last year.

Collectors pretty much settled on the term "symbols" for ponies ever since the early days of collecting on the Internet when G1 was the only generation, and symbols caught on and became the most commonly used term for G1 ponies. Hasbro, on the other hand, has referred to symbols with varying terms. Sometimes Hasbro would call it the pony's "design" (like on Magic Message ponies). So, in collecting circles G1s have symbols, not cutie marks, but that's just because of collector tradition. :)

I hadn't really seen Movie Star Gusty up close; it's interesting to see that she has the olive green eyes her so-soft counterpart has, while the North American glitter-symbol one has the blue-green eyes I'm used to.

Hear hear ;) (No bias AT ALL. >.>)

Re cutie marks - it's a G3-G4 thing. I actually cringe up inside whenever anyone calls a G1-2 pony symbol a cutie mark. Hasbro in the UK officially called them "rump marks" or "rump markings" but symbol became pretty universal in the old days of pony collecting and it's also an inoffensive and general term so it stuck.

Cutie mark has an actual meaning behind it in the G4 line, as it is connected to the plot. But when applied to G1 it sounds patronising and just plain wrong. So I would say symbols for G1-2, and cutie marks G3-4.

But I'm something of a purist and I really hate when later gen terminology gets used on older ponies that predate the terms ;)

(I also have twitches about the terms NSS and NBBE, so maybe I'm just super picky)
