I'm not sure if they are still available on Netflix but I like BBC shows like Keeping Up Appearances (comedy), Miss Marple, and Poirot (both detective series).  I also like Columbo, Matlock, Magnum PI...  most of that older stuff doesn't have near the language, sex, or blatant drug use.  It might be a bit implied here and there on the crime shows but nothing like today's fare.

How scary is Stranger Things? I'm intrigued but I'm also scared of aliens. I've had dreams about aliens since I was a kid and I can't watch movies or shows about them.

I loved it but it's scary for someone who doesn't like aliens.  So, I probably wouldn't recommend it to you.  The creature was pretty freaky.

Transformers: Rescue Bots.  :)  It's rating is "Y-7" for ages 7 and up.

Unlike most Transformers show, this one is not about robot war.  Instead, the Rescue Bots are rescue workers who save humans from floods, fires, etc.  Almost all of the problem solving is based on logic and teamwork, not violence.

When I first saw the brightly-colored, cartoony designs of the show, I was worried it was going to be the Transformers equivalent of G3.5 "Newborn Cuties" webisodes.  But the writing on this show is REALLY REALLY GOOD.

Here's some clips from the show:

Have you watched Fuller House or Girl Meets World? Both super cute throwback spinoff sitcoms.

If you don't like gore or alien-like creatures I wouldn't suggest Stranger things. Its very very good but definitely not for everyone. My boyfriend said it was like reading a Stephen King book. Not watching a movie based on a Stephen King book but like what your imagination comes up with while reading one.

Netflix just released "The Little Prince" movie, and it's the cutest ever, especially if you have read the book. Highly recommend!

I haven't watched it yet. (Why? I don't know) But I highly recommend the book as well! Its wonderful, especially the Katherine Woods translation. There's also an older movie with Gene Wilder that I love, but I don't think its on Netflix. You might be able to find it at the library or something like that.

I'm going to throw in "The Paradise" on Netflix.  It's a period drama from the Victorian era.

Thanks for the suggestions every pony. Ooo, I definitely want to watch The Little Prince with my mum. We both like the book. I read it in French, once, when I was really studying French.

The Paradise looks interesting - I loved Downton Abbey. I couldn't get into Poldark, the one about the British army officer who returns to England after the American Revolutionary War.

I do like documentaries and frequently watch those on Netflix. "Hidden Kingdoms" is awesome if you love animals.

And I do like some cartoons - thanks for the suggestions about Voltron and Rescue Bots.

Poirot and Miss Marple are great detective stories. Also, I've watched all the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and highly recommend it to mystery fans. :)

Hello! I'm also wondering about what to watch. Besides back episodes of Doctor Who, that is. I also don't do gruesome shows (no Vikings or Game of Thrones for me -- I tried but I can't do it!).

I like mystery shows if they're not too gory. Hinterland (Welsh detective show) was excellent! Also I recently watched The Shannara Chronicles. It was campy but good, and inspired me to re-read the epic fantasy books.

How scary is Stranger Things? I'm intrigued but I'm also scared of aliens. I've had dreams about aliens since I was a kid and I can't watch movies or shows about them.

Did you watch Torchwood?  If you stick with the first few seasons (pre- Children of the Earth,) I don't recall it being particularly gory or scary.  It should be on Netflix.

I still recommend:
Chuck
Charmed (up through Season 4 and then Season 6,)
Buffy (seasons 1-4 are the least scary)
Firefly

* all available on Netflix  :)

My absolute favorite shows were Eli Stone and Joan of Arcadia but those were only released on DVD.
