Do you think the Celestial ponies would have had a gimmick?

These are the celestial ponies, in case anyone hasn't seen them.  This is only concept art . . . They were never produced.

However, I think their "official" Hasbro name was "Fairy Brights."  This makes me wonder if they would have had some kind of light-up gimmick?  Like LED lights in them or something?

However, they don't have an obvious "compartment" covering that would have held batteries (like UK Princess Sparkle's cape), so maybe not?

Their bodies remind me of marbled paper I made as a kid.

My hypothesis is that their bodies would have been two colors of plastic swirled together--not painted on, like the Colorswirl ponies.

Their hair has sparkles painted on them, so maybe they would have had tinsel.

I'd say, translucent And pearlescent with swirls, like a mix between  the Pretty n Pearlies, G4 pearlescents and Color Swirls. I'm hoping the  moon and stars thing would be an accessory rather then permanently stuck on them like those icky G4 beaded mane ponies. 

Though that would make them more expensive and sought after to have them with.

 I love the blue/blue and purple/blue ones. What do you think their names would have been?

That's what I was thinking! I have imagined that they would have headbands with the star boppers to go on their heads. Maybe they would have come with Aliens a la the Baby Bonnet School of Dance.

I think they would have just had the little moon/star antenna things sticking out of their heads. I can't imagine Hasbro actually doing much more than that, haha. As it is, wasn't that gimmick alone enough to cause Hasbro to cancel them due to production costs (or at least so it's theorized)?

Though I'd love to see a pearly-translucent-swirly-marble pony. That sounds awesome.

A supernova, maybe? It looks kinda like a candy raining lightning bolts to me.

This is just a guess, but I think they would have been produced in Year 11.  Except then Hasbro canceled the whole line (in the US).  They must have gotten quite far in the process to make the backcard art for them, though.

I think they would have had the antennae literally sticking out of their heads, not detachable (although, yeah, I'm not fond of that idea. )

This is basically how I've always pictured them, which shiny hair that's magically "glittery" without glitter or tinsel, but I doubt that's how they would've been made. Especially the magic hair If I want to get really crazy, mica powder symbols and eyes would be so beautiful!

I guess I'm in the minority but I'd hate it if the antennae were on a headband. I think it would look ridiculous on an actual pony and probably look rather cheap, or look a little better and be too easily broken. Being "real" antennae would look the best to me, by far.

The name "Fairy Bright" does bring to mind some kind of light-up gimmick, and those antennae on their heads must have served some function (unless they were just to make the ponies look more like "aliens"). They do remind of Princess Sparkle and her light-up crown, so I wonder if there is any relation between them. (like if the idea for Princess Sparkle came from this concept)

The battery compartment could have been in the neck, like the sweet talking ponies, or on their undersides. But it would have been very unusual for Hasbro to have a full set of battery-operated ponies. Battery-operated gimmicks were very rare during G1's entire run, and when used it was only for a single, or a pair of ponies.

Or maybe there was some kind of glow-in-the-dark gimmick involved.

Ohhhh, glow-in-the-dark!  That's a great point.  Hasbro definitely had practice making glow in the dark plastic, from the Moondreamers line.  Perhaps the antennae glowed in the dark.

Or even their hair.  Do any of those shades match the Moondreamers' hair?

They could have had glow in the dark symbol paint too . . .

I always thought they would glow in the dark. I also think they're plastic would be marbled rather than painted on swirls.

All I know is I would have loved them. I love all the ponies with the different stars and planets symbols. If they had glowed tbwykebhave been a big bonus!
