Hi.

I was just wondering how much time is reasonable to expect an Ebay seller to ship an item after you've paid for it? I bought something on Ebay 3 days ago, paid immediately and am still waiting for the item to ship. The seller had 100% positive feedback for selling other items (mostly baby clothes). I'm hoping the seller has shipped and just forgot to mark it on Ebay.

You can always drop them a note and ask. It should state in their auction how long to expect before they ship. Within a day, 1-3 days, within a week, etc.

Generally I expect things shipped in about three days. However, I did once buy a couple ponies from someone liquidating their entire collection. They listed about 300 ponies at once, and I wasn't the only one who won multiple auctions. She took ten days to ship. I didn't mind. In situations like that, I am pretty lenient. But for regular auctions with either low-volume sellers, or the ones who are basically a business, I'd expect within three days to be reasonable.

Id check their info about it, I know a lot of people try to ship out the next day, but sometimes iv seen people say they only ship on specific days of the week. maybe to save on trips to the PO and get bulk orders out.

Each seller sets their own handling time. I can see it on my phone app. I assume it can be seen on the normal site?

My handling time is 5 days. I can't get to the post office monday-thursday because of work and other stuff. :/

I'm pretty lenient with waiting for sellers to ship.  I'm not the fastest at shipping myself because I have multiple debilitating health conditions that make it extra challenging to do even basic tasks, and can see me in bed for days at a time.  I only list ponies on rare occasions when I'm well and have energy, but I can be sick again at a moment's notice.  It might take me as long as 7 days but I try to communicate with buyers and let them know of any delays and when their ponies are safely off in the mail :)

I'm also used to waiting months for items to arrive because most of my ponies come from overseas, so honestly if a seller takes a a few extra days to ship it doesn't make much difference.  It seems to be an issue that people have a wide range of opinions about.  Some people like me it doesn't bother as long as I'm kept informed of any major delays.  I'm more interested in keeping shipping costs down (especially the dreaded GSP)  It depends a bit on who you're buying from.  Ebay sellers are all sorts of people-- some are large businesses, whereas others are elderly grandmothers or mums with three or four young kids.

At the end of the day the most important thing is communication, and checking out a seller's feedback before you buy!

You have some great advice here already, and I'd agree too with whats already been said: check your sellers' handling time. They are all different and if its someone who works long hours or someone who sells a lot then the handling/shipping times can vary. Some are 5 days, some are 10 days. Yes most people do ship within a few days , and some also forget to update that they've shipped too , but there are others who take longer. It should tell you in their listing :)
If the time stated in their listing is already up then of course drop them a polite message asking if they've shipped your item yet , that's fine too, especially if you're getting worried

Thanks everyone. :) I did go back and check the seller's handling time which was a little confusing also because in some auctions they stated usually shipped in 2 days but some of their other auctions didn't say that. My item has been marked as shipped but I don't have a tracking number?

They probably take their packages to the post office and don't print their postage online. This would require them to enter the tracking number manually, which they obviously didn't. I wouldn't worry. You can always contact them and request a tracking number which they would have on their postal receipt if they kept it.
