Unauthorised Paypal Payment?
« on: February 12, 2016, 03:46:14 PM »
So I just signed into my Paypal and found that almost £50 is on hold, supposedly due to an "unauthorised payment".   The payment was for a Nintendo game I sold on eBay, the buyer paid and I sent it (with proof of posting and tracking so there is proof of this).  However, they have never left feedback for the item so I guess they can turn around and say someone bought it through their account and had it shipped to a different address?

Is there anything I can do?  Or do I just have to wait for the buyer to have my money refunded to them?!

I'd contact Paypal.

What probably happened is that the buyer has tried to scam you by calling their credit card company (assuming that is where their Paypal money is drawn from) and claiming that someone stole their card and made an unauthorized payment.  So the credit card company charged Paypal, which in turn charged you.

How long ago did they buy the item?  And were they from the US or UK or where?  Can you still look up the tracking number?

Panic over, Paypal have released my money back to me.  It was all a bit weird - it seems he filed the claim the day before he signed for the parcel (which was about two weeks ago).  Paypal never notified me and I just happened to notice tonight that my balance was lower than it should be.  When I looked at my completed transactions, it said that my funds were on hold because of an unauthorised payment.

No sooner had I come here to ask for advice, by pure coincidence they gave me my money back!  Oh well, one less thing to stress about!
