Marking customs
« on: December 27, 2015, 10:10:10 PM »
Now I know it is important to mark custom ponies before they get sent out into the wild but how is the best way to do it? I really don't want the hoof that is marked to discolor years down the line.

I'm still in the middle of working on my first customs so I don't know if it will work out well, but I had thought to sign my custom's hoof in the same acrylic paint I was going to use on the cutie mark. I'm not sure if that helps you at all.

This, I paint my name with paint or if the custom already has a FBR and is already sealed I will use a pen (more or less a gel pen but still) and seal that. Anything else (like a tag) would probably get lost

I have a metal stamp that I heat up and press into the plastic under a hoof, if the bait has a blank hoof. If not, then I don't tend to bother, as most of my customs are pretty easy to recognise in themselves
Thank you *wyvernchick* for my lovely avvie!

Of course it is a D shaped daisy  my design, and made for me by my OH, who is (quite handily) a precision mould toolmaker!

This is what it looks like when it's been heated and stamped in.
