Huge pony room progress. I'm so excited!
« on: December 21, 2015, 10:43:05 PM »
So for those of you ho don't know, I went through a hard time a few years ago with a divorce and back surgery that necessitated a career change. I ultimately sold my house in the suburbs and downsized to a condo. During the transition, my parents graciously stored most of the contents of my pony room at their house for safekeeping.

Gradually, I've been readying my office/ spare room at the new place, and organizing ponies any time I went back home. Tonight, finally, my dad brought the last few containers of ponies to my house. I spent the rest of the night doing some more organization. My goal is to get some shelves in the coming year and have a display room for my ponies, Uglydolls, and a few other small collections. I'm so excited!!  :frolic:

It doesn't look like much, but believe me, it's progress! This stack of six bins in the corner beside my desk is almost all my G1's, pretty neatly organized. Ignore the color labels on the bins. My mom is loaning them to me, and she used them for something else. I'm not THAT organized.

All my G2's, G3's, G4's, a few fakes, and a few Fashion Star Fillies (the rest of those are still at Mom & Dad's. That's my next step, I swear!)  I kept a few supplies for restoration, customizing, and cleaning. I have also started a bin of duplicates and I may sell some in the future. I gifted some very common G4's, etc., to my parents' 4 year-old neighbor.

To stay motivated through the night, these musical ladies and I rocked out to a goth-flavored 80's/New Wave playlist that someone is sharing on Spotify.

Jeero and the other Uglydolls remain completely unimpressed with all my hard work. They're just wondering when I'm going to put their stuffed animal nets back up.

Now that I know where everyone is, I'm going to reopen my pony spa to start washing and styling so that everyone will be pretty and ready to go on display. So happy!!

Have fun!  I am in the same situation but keep getting side tracked by other projects.  My ponies may remain in bins for a while

I love the color of the walls in your new pony room! They'll look so nice once they're all set up in there!

Thank you! Purples and greys are my thing, so I picked the colors and my BF painted for my birthday. Not pictured, the master BR is grey with purple decor. And I got really lucky with the floors, considering the complex was built in 1966, and I'm not sure if these are the original floors or when the last time they were refinished.

Purples and greys are my favorite, too!  :frolic:

Normally, I'm not a fan of chair rails, but I love what you/your bf have done with it, using it to break up the two different shades. It is making me rethink my distaste for chair rails, actually. lol

I don't see a chair rain, I see a darker purple wainscot with white trim. We did this in my daughter's room and it's quite charming.  ^.^

Is it wainscoting? I don't see any paneling, it just looks like a chair rail with the wall painted a different shade above and below the moulding. I didn't look all that closely, though.  :)

Congrats on the new pony room!  Half the fun is setting everything up and getting everyone on display.

Thank you! I've been so overwhelmed with projects that I decided not to do anything complicated right now, so I left the chair rail in place and decided at the last minute to do the two-tone paint. I've had just enough art training to be dangerous, LOL.  :art:

I like the thing on the wall you guys call a chair rail!! I had it on my walls done with a border of wallpaper at my old flat!
My ponies are on the shelves in my pony room, but after my moving and sickness last summer and other things that happened in life...my ponies are all over the shelves...
I had them on year on the shelves...so I have a lot of sorting out to do!
But it is on my bucket list for Januari!
I really love the colors of your room! I had almost the same colors on my walls in my old flat! ;)

It's a good start. :o) You've got some nice ponies hiding in those bins.

Thank you! That's one reason why I'm taking my time, I want to do it right because I have some awesome ponies and I wanted to make sure they were safe during my transition. Due to an error on the part of my buyer, my stuff sat on a moving truck in the July heat for 3 days because buying this place was contingent on selling the last. I would have lost my mind if my ponies had been on that truck, but they were safe at my parents' place. So it's taken some time, but I'm finally getting it together  :accomplished:
