Working on a G4-zilla custom! Espresso or Chcocolate Fudge?
« on: November 15, 2015, 04:46:36 PM »
Hi all! I'm not new to customizing, but I've never customized such a big pony before. I'm doing a custom couple of my ponysona and the pony I designed for my boyfriend.

I just have a few questions:

1. For re-hairing, how much hair should I buy? I buy from dollyhair, I'm thinking two, maybe three hanks? I just want to be sure.

2. Can I see some hair examples to compare something? The specific pony I'm working on is the pony I designed after my boyfriend. The pony has dark brown hair like his, but I can't decide between two different shades.
The colors I'm considering are Espresso and Chocolate Fudge. Does anyone have customs with these hair colors that they can show to help me get a better idea on the shade of brown?  :)

3. Have you used the dolly hair fragrances on your pony? Do they work well? My boyfriend is a coffee fanatic, so I'd like to to get a coffee fragrance add-on for the hair I order. I just want to know if it would be worth it!

Thank you for any and all help!!! xoxo

I used their strawberry fragrance once years ago and it was really neat and worked quite well.

I read some people use 2 hanks others use 3 on a Zilla, I am working on one too and bought 3 hanks just to be safe.

It depends on how thick you want the hair, how many rows of mane.  I would say at least 3, but I'm pretty sure Darkhorse must get at least 10...

I have used the coffee and grape fragrances.  I REALLY liked the grape one, but the coffee one didn't smell like coffee to me.     They were really easy to use.

Thanks for your help so far everyone :)

Still looking if anyone has any photos to compare Espresso and Chocolate Fudge colors. You don't need to have both in one but if you have a pony with one of those colors or just the hanks could you please post a pic for me? Thanks guys! xoxo

Hi! I've never used Espresso, and I don't know if this will help, but I did a custom a while ago using a BLEND of Choc Fudge and Choc Pudding. If you look closely at the brown in the mane, you can see the lighter and darker brown strands. The darker strands are Choc Fudge. The Fudge gives it some depth and darkness, while the Pudding gives it a lot of warmth.
