Prototype or Really Good Fakie? G4 CMM Trixie
« on: November 11, 2015, 06:29:14 AM »
Hello everyone! It's been a while. :)

So a few months back, I picked up a Trixie Lulamoon from Ebay. I'm not fond of Trixie in the show, but I love her color scheme and wanted her to break up all the pink in my pony shelf :P

Just about a half hour ago, I went on ebay with the search term "my little pony knockoff" to see what kinds of fakies were out there, and sure enough, my trixie was in the results! Knowing how search engines work, though, I was curious if it just picked up "my little pony" and not the "knockoff" part, so I did some googling to see Trixie's releases.

The only thing I found that resembled mine was a Cutie Mark Magic Trixie with 3 breezies that I haven't seen in the States (I only ever see Fluttershy or Twilight), and I don't even know if it's been released yet! (pic of that below).

As you can probably see, this Trixie has one of those heart-shaped stamps (QR codes?) on her front left foot. Mine doesn't. But she has a serial number and hasbro stamps and such on the bottom of her hooves. (here's some pics of her under the cut)

I consider myself a pony newbie, so I'm not really an expert on spotting good fakies or "prototypes" or weird variants. I'm not even sure if this pony has any! Do any of you know if she's fake or real? Please let me know!

I still like her either way, but I'd just like to know if I ever want to sell her :P Thanks for reading!

Probably prototype.  How is the weight?  Does it feel like light weight plastic? holly? or about the same weight as a regular g4?  Besides being lighter, fakie plastic usually feels brittle and hard, but real G4s have bend to them.

Her plastic is pretty good, I think. I'm comparing her to a legit one and the two are about the same weight. Her head is a little firm, but the body has a fair amount of give. I'm thinking she's a prototype as well, based on what you've told me. Thanks!

Hmm. She looks like a actors reject to me. How good is her hair quality compared to your officially released ponies? Does it all come out when you brush it?

Either way, I like her better without the code :o

CMM Trixie is legit :) She's been out in the UK for a couple of months now.

I'd say your girl is a prototype; a few of the recent ponies turned up on Taobao/eBay exactly the same as the final release, just without the Zapcode on their legs. They look soooo much better without them! Nice find! :D

Brushable playful pony fakies rarely venture outside the main characters and I'm pretty sure that's not one of them.

Your Trixie's real :P I ordered Coco from ebay too and she doesn't have her zapcode :P (I honestly prefer them codeless, since i'm just gonna end up wiping off the code thing anyways with acetone...)
Oh no!

Her hair is about on-par with regular toys. It's held up to my brushing and styling quite well!

Haha, I agree. Are they releasing a normal sized coco? I've only seen the fashion style one. (I dont keep up with pony news....eheh)

She is not going to be a prototype but neither is she a knock off :)

She is most likely one of the Trixies who didnt make it past QC...probably because of the lack of that zap mark. I really like her with all her extra symbols and love the lack of the code. Congrats on your new addition.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I guess what we'd call a factory second...but genuine all the same.

I didn't realise that Trixie and ButtonBelle weren't stateside yet though - I found mine in Hamleys in July and that's a long time ago - unless it's state by state? I don't see them in stores here now, either in London or back home, though Entertainer back home has the Rainbow Power ones again (not Holly Dash or Rarity, the other 4)
