I love the book. It doesn't read like a native English book but I enjoy the way it is translated, it has a poetry to it that appeals to me (I don't read or speak German, I just like the way things are worded). I've only read one other book by Michael Ende, "Momo," but it also reads as a very metaphorical magical tale. I like books that have an old-fashioned moral core and by that I don't mean old-fashioned values per se but the old-fashioned idea that books should teach a moral and not just tell a story. One of my favorite things about the book when I first read it (borrowed from the library) was the red and green printing Honeycomb mentioned. The first copy I purchased didn't have it and I was sorely disappointed but the copy I have now does and it really adds to the magic in my mind.
I havent read it, but typically books are better then movies
Can I brag here that I have actually ridden Fuchur (German)= Falkor when I was a child? In Munich. Going to look for a photo!
