Lets discuss our rattums!
« on: July 14, 2015, 09:44:05 AM »
I have these threads on other forums I'm on, and I realized I made one here ages ago but let it die. I think there are a lot more rat owners around than there used to be, so I thought I would try again.  Lets talk about those furry little critters that are oh so adorable but scare the general population.

About three weeks ago I got new babies for my classroom pets which puts me at 12 rats! I think I've finally hit my limit since everyone of course needs attention all the time. These new boys are fun and super active (been a while since I had babies all mine are older) and are currently chilling in their MLP hammocks. I thought I would make them cartoon based cage sets so the kids would like them better.

Anyway lets talk rats! Go! :gallop:

I haven't seen one in a while except people posting pictures here or there. If there is a main thread though for it feel free to lock this one! I just didn't see a current one.

Don't have ratties at the moment, just a pile of hammies and a couple of piggies to fill my rodent quota.

I'd love to have two or three rats of my own, preferably males because I hear they are more laid back and affectionate. But if I brought any home, my parents would kick me out. I'm lucky they let me have a dog. But maybe someday when I'm out on my own I'll have a couple of them. They are great pets and I've had them in the past.

Nokama!

Dee and Nokama are a bit hard to photograph, dee is our explorer and Nokama is just very shy :)

Before these girls i've always had boys. But honestly, these girls have been more affectionate for me! And they smell less

Aww, one of my old horses was named Nakoma! How cute! How in the world do you tell the three little ones apart though?

I'll have to post pictures of mine when my computer stops being such a jerk.

I have nine boys and three girls. Honestly they all have their advantages, and I like having a variety. I hope to get more girls in the future at some point. I know everyone goes for boys since they are supposed to be more calm and easy going, but honestly once they get to that stage they are just about too old and it's more sad to me. Like they slow down because of age and by that time the girls slow down as well.

I can't get any rats until I move out. I hope to get some again someday. They are just so freaking adorable. This is one of my favorite videos of rats running around the house and having fun, and causing mischief. ;)

Lol Maddie munchy and woosie are way smaller than punkin and it looks like theyre going to stay on the petite size so at least we can tell punkin apart. Right now Munchy has a little stripe of blue non toxic marker at the base of her tail, and thats how we tell them apart when we need to  I just draw it back on when it starts to fade :)
