A Target I went to today had two boxes of the new wave ponies. And Apple Bottom's name was changed to Apple Split. 
(He also apparently cant stand on his own, or at least mine cant....)

They've been at my target about 2 weeks now I think. I got Apple Split and Apple Bumpkin, just to compare her to Apple Dazzle in person mostly. I still can't decide if I want to keep both. My Apple Split will stand but it's difficult and I have to adjust his legs like I have to do with the wonderbolt ponies and Flim & Flam.

I guess in the beginning they didnt realize what 'Apple Bottoms' means in the US, or at least what they are "infamously" referred to as.

It's a brand of jeans, so I'd guess a reason might be trademark conflict as well.

Much like the Pinkie blindbag molds, Apple Split refuses to stay standing. I had to put a couple pennies under his raised leg to keep him up.
