slow doll shippers
« on: May 26, 2015, 03:32:19 PM »
Is it just me or are doll people taking forever to ship lately? I finished paying Dana off last week. I messaged the girl today because she said she'd ship asap. Apparently that means maybe by friday. Ugh! Just ship the next business day already. I'm probably impatient because she coming from europe, which I didn't realize until AFTER I had paid her off. Grr. Plus I'm sure the $15 euros I paid for shipping is the slow boat option. *sigh*

*not really a ts worthy thread, more looking for doll people's opinions. :)

I haven't had any issues with slow shippers, to be honest, and I've bought probably six or seven dolls in the last couple months.  More like dealing with people who haven't a clue how to pack a fragile or antique doll.  Had one shipped where they had folded her over in half, so her head was between her ankles, tossed in a box that wasn't completely packed full with peanuts and shipped like that. . .  I was lucky she didn't get more than a few dents and dings to the material of her body.

Trust me, I was!

I contacted the seller, who did not specialize in the least of selling dolls, and he told me that I was full of it and that they shipped the doll correctly, and the damage she got was caused by the post.  They were just very argumentative, telling me I didn't know anything when I've collected and sold dolls like the one I purchased for well over a decade now.  I dinged them with a negative, first one I've given in well over a year. . .  I hate leaving negs, but that person definitely deserved it.

I've since taken to letting sellers know ahead of time how dolls need to be shipped.  So far, have had perfect compliance and very nice transactions since and no other issues, but have been dealing with only doll people since.  :/

I just find so often that the people who know the least about what they're selling often think they know the most.  Or at least treat people who seemingly are newer buyers like know-nothings.  My mother and I used to use the same ebay account, because we both sold on ebay.  I don't sell on ebay anymore, and it's just easier now to have my old account, but I don't buy that much.  In a year, I've gotten like 25 feedback, and half of those were from a mass bead buy for my crafting.

Gee, that's not nice. I usually send the next day, it's a relief to have things in order. People should say if they need a few days to send for some reason. Communication is the key. I haven't had any problems lately, but I have only bought from one private person ;). I have mostly bought from companies, except some etsy stuff. And that's all been sent quickly as well. But I always ask what method shipping it will be if it doesn't say. I bought my Lati Bremen Sunny with shipping included. Big mistake to not ask further as she sent the doll with ground shipping. It took 6-7 weeks O_o.. She got here in good shape, but the wait was torture. I would happily have paid a bit extra for faster shipping.. So after that I have been more cautious.

I haven't dealt with bad packing for the most part, but one company that sells used Blythes sent my Strawberry n' creamy cute unsecured in her box. She was ratteling away in there. She was luckily still in good shape..

If I ever buy a battered old Kenner on ebay I will certainly give some polite suggestions regarding packing ;).

That sucks when someone shippes slow. Specially when you have paid so much for something. I personal always try and have things out next day. Sometimes I have a few hiccups and things are a day or two late but never longer than that.

I hope they ship your item to you soon.

Thank you :) I paid my layaway off two weeks early too. Thats probably why I'm so impatient.
