SDCC 2015 Exclusive - Online 28th July

My more cynical side is afraid Hasbro knows their exclusive for the year is cheap, lazy and lacking, and hoping they'll get sales only due to people not deciding beforehand that they don't want it. I guess they'd be betting on a "I'm already at the Fair/Con so I might as well get it" mentality. But even Hasbro isn't that bad. They want money, and that move would cost them.

My more realistic side thinks it's a marketing gimmick to try and get more hype. Well, hype's over and passed, Hasbro. People are losing interest. Either way, I think it's ridiculous they're waiting so long to reveal it.

Random question. Is leaving the reveal of an exclusive so late normal? Not just for Hasbro but for any company that sells exclusives, especially at SDCC.

If they're doing it to hype it up they're not very good at it. A week after a teaser and still nothing, not even another teaser? I've lost interest and nearly forgotten entirely about it, not exactly the gimme-gimme mind I'd think they'd want to be cultivating.

At this point I don't even want it to be something good, so I can get on with not being able to buy it.

I think the lateness only started last year... and I think it's a marketing/selling move. Since DJ bombed the year before last they want to keep people in suspense in the hopes they'd get more of a bite for the exclusive... Summer said that for the fair pony it was supposed to get an announcement over at Pop Sugar site which is run by USA Today but there has been -nothing- and I'm thinking they are actually going to wait the day before the fair starts at this point to reveal =/
