i was naughty again  :P this time an antique cabinet that i actually wasn't expecting to win.
now i dont like to talk about things that are not in my possession already just in case something happens but i need to decide on this with some fun help ideas from the mlp community   before it arrives home

- keep it as a china cabinet or full it up with beautiful pastel plastic little ponies
paint it or keep it as is. i was inspired about a post a long time back about some lovely person here finding an old deco cabinet in their shed or garage and doing it up beautifully with ponies in it and it was awesome  ;)
come forth if you know its you

anyways on to the cabinet i won yesterday, it looks like i might be able to do 3 rows of ponies on each shelf.

i love painting furniture especially pony cabinets white as they make the ponies colours look great but i don't know if i have the heart to on this one. my other hobby next to mlp collecting is up-cycling furniture hence my user name

here is what i have now, a couple of mid-century cabinets stacked on top of each other, i love it but i love really old stuff more  :satisfied:

so what do you think of the new well old cabinet , like it or hate it  ;) paint it or not?

I would be just as hesitant as you to paint it! I also have white pony storage and I prefer it to other colors but that cabinet is just too gorgeous as is! I've toyed with the idea of getting an antique cabinet for my special ponies but they are usually too much $$$ that I'd rather spend on ponies

I suppose you won't really know until you have it in your possession and can see what it looks like with ponies in it. I want to see too so pics please!!!

I don't have any china, so my china cabinet has ponies (and some figurines). Top row is childhood ponies and special, hard-to-finds (Punzie, Mimic); middle row is figurines and such; bottom row is custom ponies. But it was my grandma's, so I've left the wood original.

I would fill it with special ponies. Maybe Nirvanas or such. And I would at first keep the original color, see how it goes. And if you don't like it, then paint it white, or other bright color.

Congrats, it's lovely! Absolutely fill that baby up with ponies. :) I voted for leaving as is, though. It's so beautiful as it is now.

I'm currently searching for a vintage barrister's bookcase to display some my collection, once I start reorganizing. They're so expensive, though. :/

Definitely fill with ponies!

I wouldn't paint it- but if you don't care for the color of the wood, you could always stain it to one more your liking?

I would try painting the outside pastel purple, and the inside pastel pink.

thank you so much guys :) and your all right to keep it as is, its made out of oak and its in great condition for its age also there is a slight water stain on top but it don't mind.

im so excited and i can't wait to show pics of it full of pony-goodness inside. i might mix it up a bit with vintage mlp merchandise.

Congrats, it's lovely! Absolutely fill that baby up with ponies. :) I voted for leaving as is, though. It's so beautiful as it is now.

oh yes what a great idea, iv toyed with the idea of using those too but yes, very pricey.

these ones can be very expensive but its way out of town so only had 2 bids on it   so its a long hike to go and collect it but its worth it :)

I've never seen anything like it.
its NZ or European version of art deco, i bit different to America's version which i way prefer as its way more fancy then ours :) this one is as fancy as its gets as they can be more squared shaped with lots of lines

I think it looks too beautiful as is to paint over it.  It's very classy!

Maybe make a nice display on the shelves of a few of your favorite/rarest/etc ponies and some accessories or props, to make little scenes, instead of just filling it completely with ponies?  You could even put in some backdrops on the back wall.  Hm, well you can always try different arrangements and numbers of ponies until it looks just right  ^.^

I wouldn't fill the new one with ponies, actually :( the leaded glass is (to me) too busy to do justice to the ponies. I prefer the way you have them displayed now.

I like the shelves you already have for ponies. I wonder if you have something else you collect that would go better in the new cabinet. Definitely don't paint it -- it's beautiful as is! I think ponies could look good in it, but don't replace your old cabinets with this one -- rather use this as extra display room for ponies. Though like CoonhoundBetty said, the glass could obscure the ponies and make them less in focus. I guess when you get it you'll just have to play around and decide what you think looks best!

Just chiming in to agree with the others; fill that puppy with ponies, keep the original color, and keep your old one too

I'd definitely keep it original so it retains it's value even after you acquire the huge shelves :)...then you can fill it with old china or sell it :) Or just keep adding ponies lol
Remember kids....don't drink and ebay...
