There are also a lot of tazers that, when holstered, look like guns. Our security staff where I work carry those and they're not permitted to carry actual guns.  So it's possible that if the reports were anecdotal based on just what people saw it could be that *shrug*

This is why we are trying so hard to keep away from this debate at the Arena, because there are big ugly opinions, and we don't have the capacity to deal with this presently!

And Mrs. Dollhouse Moderator has no patience for mud-slinging.

Please forgive me, you guys, but here is the official warning. Again.

Wait, huh?  The warning is to not discuss recasts? Or to not talk about what happened at Resin Rose?  Or are you reiterating what Loa said? Just a little confused....

To reiterate: keep things civil. By all means, please discuss away; this is a good topic! Just play nice. That's all. ;)

(And yeah, that wasn't very clear, huh?! :silly: )

Ok I'm not into dolls so I'm pretty much just here for being nosy, but....can someone please explain to me why the guards were armed?

Liiike maybe I'm just clueless but it sounds really bizarre to be carrying around weapons at a convention about dolls.  :what:
I've been to conventions where armed guards are there to PROTECT the convention goers (for instance, one year there was a big sports event at the same time at the same place, and some ugly things happened -- the sports people were not attending the convention, but had rooms in the hotel and after they had their mandatory alcohol they started picking on the convention goers... let's just say that some furniture was defenestrated). What I don't understand is why they would make such a big show of having this poor girl escorted off the premises by armed guards. What was she going to do -- hit them with her doll? I really do suspect that she has grounds to sue over this. I mean, there's breaking a non-violent rule (which can be dealt with peacefully) and then there's breaking rules that actually warrant an armed escort.

As far as the guards, my husband is a security guard and sometimes the venue requires armed guards at events. No real rhyme or reason, not because they expect some violent stuff to go down, just part of venue policy. In which case armed guard escort was inevitable...since all the guards would have been armed :(
Can't comment on the incident itself since I don't know much about the topic itself.
