I'm still playing with looks for Bonnie. We've agreed that glass eyes are a must and maybe a darker wig. However, we needs lots and lots of hats

Cute!! 

I'm so freaking excited.  I found an artist (in Australia, of course) that I wanted to commission for Leif's faceup and even though she's expensive ($150 for his faceup and then the international shipping), her style is exactly what I was looking for.  According to her webpage, she's not open for commissions, but I sent her an email to see if she had a mailing list so I would know when she had space again and she responded that she actually will have time soon and that she'd love to do my doll!  So Leif will be off soon to visit the artist who did this faceup:

  He's going to be so amazing!!  After his face, I'm going to get him some clothes and then I'm going to save up for body blushing.  By the time he has his face and blushing, he will represent an investment of around $800 if you include the wig and his eyes (he is wearing Makos).  Not counting clothes.

I got to visit the denver doll emporium showroom today and immediately placed an order when I got home today    I got a doll chateau blank agatha and an event doll madeline
As a first time bjd owner, do you all have any tips and tricks you'd share with me?  I'm just so excited!

I'm also a new BJD owner so I have very little advice to offer.  About the only tip that I have to share is "don't leave your doll exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this will discolor the resin."
I just learned this one today and immediately ran to make sure that Jolene wasn't getting blasted with sunlight where I have her perched.

So, that's my word of wisdom for the day. *Tips hat and exits.*

Congratulations!  And I love DDE; it's one of the things that I really miss about living in Denver.  I used to go pretty regularly.

As for tips and tricks, I just suggest keeping your dolls in a spot where they won't be in danger of falling.  Mine live in a glass case that doesn't get direct sunlight.  I take them outside for photos regularly because I prefer natural lighting, but I don't want them in sunlight any other time.

The one thing that I recommend is to invest in quality faceups for your dolls if you end up commissioning someone.  A cheap doll can look like a million bucks if you send them to a great artist.  My Rindgoll boy is about to get a $150 faceup, which will be the most I've ever spent on a doll's face.  But I already paid $500 for him, so why would I skimp out when it comes to the most important part?  You know?  That's what I do for my own dolls, at least.  It's one thing that I will always splurge on.

And thanks you guys for the advice, I'm super stocked but I don't want to screw anything up when she arrives.  If delivery estimates prove true, she's gonna come in right after/during my birthday and graduation from university, what better way to treat myself and inevitably get sucked into a new hobby?
