Last Unicorn Tour!

I don't know how many of y'all are fans of The Last Unicorn book and/or movie, but I grew up with both and they are undoubtedly a huge part of the reason I became a pony collector! A week ago, our tiny local theater hosted a screening of the film, with Peter S. Beagle in attendance, and I got to go! There was a raffle for cool collectables, and a Q&A with Peter, who was absolutely charming and delightful. After the screening, he signed things, took pictures with fans, and was just generally very gracious and kind. The tour still has several US dates, then moves on to Europe, so I would definitely advise any fellow fans to try and catch a screening if possible! The tour came here last year but I was unable to go.  My sis-in-law got to see him at a comic con but didn't get an opportunity to talk to him. Still jealous though. xD
This man helped to mold my childhood and I agree that he's probably responsible at least in part for my love of ponies.

Oooh!  There are a couple in my neck of the woods so I'm going to try and get to one of them!  Hopefully my friend (who is a huge fan too) will be able to come with me.  I'd love to get my copy of the book signed.  It's actually an anthology with 5 or so of Peter Beagle's stories in it.  Unfortunately, it's kind of falling apart...  I originally took it out of the library, but when I brought it home and opened it (gently) the glue in the binding cracked and a huge chunk of pages fell right out.  I brought it back and showed it to my favorite librarian and she said that if I wanted to I could keep it because otherwise it would just be thrown out.  I love reading it, I'm just very, very careful when I do.

I sadly found out about this too late last year and missed the California shows.

There has been talk of the live action movie for over a decade so I really hope we finally see it!

I went to this when it was in town as well; such a wonderful experience! I ended up telling Peter S. Beagle (while he was signing something for my husband and I) that I hadn't seen the movie since I was in elementary school because I had been so terrified by the Red Bull that it took some actual bravery to watch it at the event over two decades later. He looked somewhat impressed which surprised me. I thought it was a very silly fear and a rather daft thing to share but I suppose a character you created having that much of an impact on someone is something of which to be proud.

I think we've had a couple of threads about this in the past, but it's always good to have a reminder! I went to a screening two(?) years ago and it was one of the best experiences of my life! I got a bunch of stuff signed, AND I got to sit directly in front of Peter while he did the live commentary!

BTW, if anyone wants to go but will have trouble remembering about it, there is a mailing list. It's probably accessible on the website, but those emails help me know when he is coming back to my area (though I missed the last couple of times he was here).

He came to my city and I was lucky I was able to walk to the theatre! It was so wonderful seeing the movie on the big screen! I got to talk with him after and he signed my comic since I didn't have a copy of the book

I've been to the Santa Cruz showing twice! It was a lot of fun~! I'd certainly recommend it for pony fans.

That's awesome that a few of y'all have gotten to go, too! It was actually an even better experience than I was expecting. I had a feeling it had probably been talked about here before, but I've been away from the Arena tending to irl stuff for a couple of years, so I wasn't sure. It's good to be back amongst company that appreciates this kind of thing as much as I do!
