Re-dying Perfume Puff hair
« on: February 26, 2015, 01:16:50 PM »
Hi all!
I was just wondering if anyone on here has had any luck re-dying PP HAIR. Daisy Sweet's hair has faded to almost pure white. I read somewhere that it's not as easy as re-pinking regular pony hair...

Thanks!

Maybe try giving it a gentle wash in cool water - mine seemed to brighten up after I did that I think it was just dusty :)

She's all clean and her hair is white with yellow at the base.

Of all the cruel and unusual things I've done to ponies this is one that I have not attempted. So, I'm gonna pull up a chair and wait to see what others have to say...

Stalking this thread. I'd suggest really soaking it in the dye a long while, but I'm no expert.

Honestly I think everyone's Daisy Dreams hair looks like that - a lot of photos online people 'improve' the colours - maybe you have been looking at a photo that's been adjusted? Can we see the photo you are comparing her to? She looks original and good to me.  Just my (second) two penn'orth

I'm curious too
I have 2 of her...1 has wonderful yellow mane and tail
....the other has a gorgeous dark/bright yellow mane and NO tail :( I want a real replacement tail, but even if I find one, it will probably be faded

Artemisia Floc - just do a google search for Daisy Sweet and you will see plenty of images of her with yellow hair.
There has to be SOMEONE on here who's tried it! I find it hard to believe otherwise!

Roogna- too bad you're missing a tail. Both of your ponies sound gorgeous anyway!

Raises hand, I've tried, it didn't work.  :(   I let the hair soak and when I pulled it out all the dye ran out.... I think the little bit that remained looked dingy.  It's been over a year since I've tried so I don't remember all the details but nothing resulted that encouraged me to try it again.  Sorry everypony.

Yeah I think your only choices are to live with it white or rehair it.

I think my google bubble must be different to yours but I did find DD with more yellow hair in here: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,365855.15.html

Faded hair wouldn't be a reason to re-hair for me, OP maybe you can upgrade her?

I would also have a look at all the tutorials for re-PNIKing hair and perhaps try a technique from there but with a yellow dye? It would be great to see the results.

Whatever you decide, congratulations on a lovely pony!

Hmm what was the dye used if you remember? Might be the type of hair they had used too.

The problem is the type of hair - I have a feeling perfume puff hair is polypropylene and not normal nylon (in order to get the affect). However I have never tested to confirm. If thats the case then the hair will not accept dye as it is not porous unfortunately :(
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
