Anyone Else Following MLP News Too Closely?
« on: February 20, 2015, 11:15:03 AM »
now that the most recent toy for is over, I look back and wonder if maybe it is more fun to watch his new releases come out in stores rather than to hear about it all at once and then languish throughout the year at the fact that I don't see new figures in stores. Does anyone else feel that way?

I feel like that sometimes. It really can suck the fun out of collecting when you want the new stuff more than what's available at the moment. Then again I'm not wasting my time hunting when there's nothing new. But then ignorance can also be bliss sometimes:) I constantly forget to enjoy the ones I actually have instead of obsessing about finding all the new ones the second they come out.

A little bit. I like to know what's coming so I know what to look for... but at the same time I love being surprised with something I didn't know about! :P

Yeah, I miss G3 where new ponies would just ~appear~ in stores and that was the first anyone had heard of them.   Sure, Hasbro would show stuff at Toy Fair, but usually not their whole G3 line.

Not for me because I don't have the spare time to go and browse the toy aisle. I definitely need the playskool stuff for my daughter. I could of missed it if there hadn't been news about it.

Although I totally get it. Just going to a store and seeing new stuff is pretty exciting. :)

I definitely love staying on top of what is coming out, what's been spotted in the wild. My area has poor distribution so usually it may be a awhile before something new finally gets to my area so it will be a pleasant surprise on the days I do decide to hit up Toys R Us or Target. I also hate driving around too much all the time. My car eats enough gas driving back and forth to work every day. The less gas I have to waste on stupid trips the better. >>; More funds to buy things I need and the occasional toy when I do find it.

They still don't show everything. I was really hoping for an explanation for those tattoo design ponies that popped up on Taobao. Until they pop up in stores I'm going to worry that they might end up like the semitransparent Mane 6 that never got released.

I would agree that it's more fun to see releases appear on shelf first... but that's on the condition that they appear at all :P So much cool stuff is getting skipped and if it weren't for the internet I wouldn't know they existed at all. On one hand it's frustrating to feel like there's nothing new or unexpected out there, but on the other I would rather know what to look out for in the assortments and line themes.

In Canada we spent a good chunk of the G3 era trying to track down ponies that were released in the states but not here, so it kind of became second nature to me to keep up with the pony news. Can't ask for trades on stuff you don't know exists.

Before the Toy Fair was so well covered and we had sites like Taobao and even ebay and blogs and news sites, it was so exciting when people first spotted toys through them being on shelves. As much as that was fun, I do kind of like to know whats coming before hand...easier to plan the spend :P

Nah, by following news I get to be excited about new ponies twice, when they are first discovered online and then again when I can get them in stores.
