I vastly prefer the face molds of these dolls over EAH.
I really love Mulan's daughter in her pink dress and will probably buy that one. Not sure about the rest yet.

Wow they are such a rip off of Ever After High!  LOL  Although... I guess Mattel's EAH line was really just cashing in on the popularity of storybook characters that Disney made popular- so I suppose Mattel deserves it a bit.  Still- even the themes are so similar (rebel types vs. goodie goodies?) Disney has no shame! I bet Hasbro is pretty happy to get the contract for these dolls- and I bet Mattel is absolutely livid!

I do like their faces and hair- gorgeous!  And for once they actually have at least a couple of different molds- the EAH dolls all have the same face to me.

But wow the outfits are a total SNOOZEFEST!  Not edgy at all.  I wonder whether the little girls will be grabbing for these dolls with their Disney-princess type looks- or whether they will prefer the more fun outfits (but more uniform faces) of the Ever After dolls?  I'm sure Hasbro and Mattel are wondering the same things...

The blue haired girl is my favorite I think- I wonder who she is? I guess "Mal" the purple haired girl is probably the daughter of Maleficent? (Her mom definitely could have used some help to come up with a more creative name, lol)(clipped from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCKxuipyFW8)

The white haired boy is kinda cute too- too bad he has plastic hair.

THESE outfits are SO BORING! Although I do love the way Mulan's daughter looks- she's really cute!  But egads ladies, so much pink...

The blue and black haired gal is the Evil Queen's daughter. I think her name is Evie.

Yeah, the blue/black haired one is Evie....If I was going to cave for one of them, it'd be her, lol!  It's sad because Maleficent is my fave villain, but I don't like Mal's design much.  I wish she had wings!

Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, and these dolls are kind of cute ...but...if they were going to do this (make dolls of the Disney characters kids)  then they needed to do it differently. This is sooo copying EAH along with the same  type of storyline   :(

It's entirely possible that it's been in the works since the same time EAH came out...that they didn't copy them, they both just had the same idea and it's taken Disney longer to get around to it because they decided to make a live-action movie to go along with it.  It's not like "children of fairy tale characters" is an entirely original idea. I'll give you that the storyline sounds similar too, but again...the child of a villain wanting to be good is also not new, lol

Yeah, if I remember correctly there were already rumors about this when EAH came out.

And to be fair to Disney, Mattel borrowed heavily on colors when they designed their dolls.

I'm LOVING the sculpts

Oh I'm gonna be all over these. :D I love the design, I've got no qualm with the reused premise (the real question is what they'll do with it and whether they'll do it well) and I *love* the fact that there are some male characters too right off the bat. That's a BIG selling point with me. I haven't started collecting EAH, though I do like their designs, so that may have some sway on my lack of loyalty. As others have said, they can co-exist if I want both anyway. (Heck, I can even have my MH dolls 'haunt' my fairytale dolls. Oh the possibilities. ;) )

Mattel definitely "borrowed" heavily on the colors and basic ideas/stories for their characters from Disney-

It is possible Mattel caught wind of this movie/idea/storyboard and launched Ever After High first-  after all, that is what it did with Barbie and the Rockers (learned of and tried to preempt Hasbro's Jem idea).

However, Disney has an even LONGER RICHER history of blatant stealing of other company's ideas and stories-  so I don't exactly feel bad for either party- regardless of who stole what.

I actually doubt however that Disney's decision to launch this toy line had nothing to do with the success of the Monster High/Ever After High dolls-  they definitely want a piece of that!
