Do you like ponies displayed on light or dark colored shelves?

My shelves have been acquired at various points, so I have a mix of white, brown, and black. I'm not really sure if I have a favourite, but here are some pics for comparison.

The shelving series I'd like to get from Ikea is white, so at least some more will be on white. The pantries and other shelves are to be determined once the pony room is re-done and finalized, but the black shelf/desk set will definitely stay in the room, as it's my craft desk.

Dark shelves work well with my other collections so all of my shelves are dark. I do prefer light colours with ponies but having one light shelf wouldn't match very well with the rest of my room.

I have my ponies on a dark shelf and I think they look really good on it.

Most of my ponies are all on black media shelves. I take what I can get for displays.
If I could I would really like to have all nice oak, stained in a dark cherry color shelves.

Light coloured 1 for me! Mine are white and pink! Some shelving are green, blue, i oso use coloured tapes to brighten them!

Dark shelves, but that's just because I like to use dark wood colored furniture in my home.

I never really thought about it. I have mine on black shelves, because it was a DVD bookcase and the ponies fit so well on it. I think the dust shows up more on black shelves so that is a downfall- more dusting lol! But overall I like my display shelves. I seem prefer dark furniture or silver.

White shelves for me! I find that it "opens" up the space and is a good contrast with our colourful, pastel ponies. x

I prefer light shelves for my collectibles. My pony shelves are light, maple color. It seems to me that light color shelves look less cluttered somehow.

Thanks for all the input! I'm definitely giving my own shelves a closer look.

My black shelves really pile on the dust! When I don't dust for a while, it's so obvious. And I keep my ponies perched on the edge of the shelf because as several have said, the darkness eats up the ponies and shadows them so much.

But my Glow 'N Shows, Sparkles, and Rainbows really pop out on black shelves! I bought black glitter paper to use as backgrounds and it's like they're displayed against a night sky.

I've decided I'm not a huge fan of my maple wood shelves. All the texture draws the eye away from the ponies.

I personally like the dark shelves, as long as you keep everything well dusted it looks excellent and make the strong colors of our pastel ponies POP! =D White shelves in my opinion look nice only if you have bright or super dark colored walls, white shelves against ' white' paint looks awful unless its super mega-ultra bleached white paint.

Well, if you remember my pics (I´m valerieponyrainbow  ) you know that I prefer light colored shelves. 

For me the ponies represent rainbows, nature, happiness, for that reason I don´t like to use black shelves, however I neither use white shelves, I prefer pastel colors like green, pink, light blue, lilac, peach

In all other aspects of decorating, I prefer dark or black wood. For my ponies, however, I want light shelves. It just brings out the nice pastels in a simple way.
But I´ve got an eclectic taste and likes to mix and match, colours and different shades.

Because I need to make do with what I can get, my shelves are a mix of black and light and dark woodgrain ones (and one dusty pink mini 3 shelf case). If I could have my dream shelves I would have frosted glass.

Several years back my parents helped me with making bookshelves for my ponies to display them. Left them their natural pine and they look lovely. I really like the ponies against them. The one other bookshelf I have for them is one my grandparents made for me ages ago, but they varnished it a darker color instead of leaving the wood it's natural color. It looks nice but shows the dust horribly. It does make the pastel ponies pop beautifully though.
