French Fry Condiment Poll

We'll, maybe we can get a Brit-centric chip poll going as well. Since I am ignorant of such, it shan't be me.

Haha, I think the list would also be a lot shorter  You put all sorts of crazy things on your chips across the pond   

I'm not very creative with my chips. Ketchup and malt vinegar does my husband and I fine... if there's something else on our chips, there's a 95% chance we're eating out and it was something we saw and went "ooh, that looks good, let's try that."

Salli, brown sauce has a similar consistency to tomato ketchup.

Thanks! It sounds a bit like Barbeque sauce. Anyone tried both and can tell me the difference? Is it more like A1 Steak sauce? I wonder if they carry this at World Market...

Also, I thought American fries=British chips and American Chips=British Crisps. Is that right?

Ketchup, chili and cheese and... milkshake.  I'm so glad that's an option!      I tried it once and it's surprisingly good.  It's salty and sweet at the same time.

I just made the most fabulous mustard aiolie sauce last night for the portobello burgers - it tasted FABULOUS on the sweet potato fries!

And Stomper-  sweet potato fries are delicious and are not of the nightshade family so you should try it! You can actually bake them at home and they taste fab

usually just vinegar and salt for me though when its available ill sometimes ignore that in lue of cheese or gravy and cheese (we call that poutine up here!)

Ofcorse, I am notmally NOT a fan of french-fries and only poke them once in a blue moon.  And those toppings aren't exactly stomach/GI tract friendly so I always react to it.

Brown sauce definitely tastes different to barbecue sauce and is my go to sauce on a bacon butty. If you can't source any and you're interested we could do a sauce trade 

Generally speaking British chips are the same as American fries but I think probably thicker cut. When we think of fries we'll have McDonalds in mind and a good chip will be about three times as wide in each direction. You're right about crisps as well.

I either like them plain or sprinkled with salt or I rarely dip them in ketchup. I mostly just love real Quebecois poutine, though. (I'm originally from Montreal!)

Mmm so many things go well with fries   The Milkshake option made me a bit queasy though lol - well if it means actually dipping the fries into the milkshake or pouring the milkshake on the fries   each to their own though. right?

yep that's right - only like Bubbles said, what we call Chips in the UK are generally quite a bit fatter than fries. We get fries too of course, and  not only at McDs
