NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!

So we have word, Lucky's foster home have decided to go the full way!!!! We are excited and were elated! I am sure all of you will be too! Thank you again for your support, we made a nice dent in Lucky's vet bills with your help, and really appreciate it! THANK YOU! Winners have been contacted, and will receive their prizes shortly!

It's Raffle Time!

A few days ago my 501c3 rescue organization Stargazey's Equine Therapy picked up a stray dog we had been trying to track for three days after we saw it had an arrow on the top of his back. We primarily focus on rescuing and re-tasking abused and neglected horses into service animals, however this pup was in bad shape, and needed help! (Scroll down for his step by step story - be warned it is upsetting :/).

Now I am asking for your help! We have named him Lucky, as he truly is! And his vet bills are racking up quickly. So far we are up to over $700!

This raffle is to help offset the costs of Lucky's surgery, and treatment.

Lucky will be available for adoption as soon as he is in good enough shape to join a new family!

UPDATE: NOV 20 - Went to visit Lucky at the vets, and he is so skinny :/ We have a long way to go, but his health other than his weight is fab! Posted photos of him in his kennel at the vet. He has his stitches out Monday - so will pick him up from the vet than as we do not want to move him too much.

UPDATE: NOV 23 - Lucky comes home tomorrow! We have bought several little children's hoodies (far warmer and softer than pet clothing), and we have a nice place to keep him warm.

UPDATE: NOV 25 - Lucky was picked up from the vet yesterday, and taken to his new foster home. He has already gained 5lbs in just a week! And we are so happy!! Check out the photos from yesterday in the spoiler tab below!\

UPDATE: DEC 1 - Great news! Lucky has continued to gain weight and has gained a whole 2lbs since being picked up from the vet!

UPDATE: DEC 9 - UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Great news - Weight is building up, and! Plus! Sort of off topic, but we adopted out one of our ponies to a little girl and her family! YAY!

UPDATE: DEC 9 - UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! EVEN BIGGER UPDATE! LUCKY MAY HAVE A HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! I will keep you posted!

Lucky's Story
Lucky was spotted by one of our big highways in the local area, and was even seen to be crossing it at one point. We immediately started planning, and set various food locations to check.

Finally after a lot of waiting, and hoping while driving past one of our food spots we laid down while driving by one of the spots, I saw him and immediately called a group of volunteers and they were out with me in minuets. It took about 30 minuets to catch him, but we managed to do it using food, and a slip lead.

He was incredibly scared, timid, and hungry. It was late that evening, and the arrow had left a nasty surface wound, but nothing life threatening.

We brought him back to the farm, and gave him THREE! huge bowls of food, and left him to settle for the evening.

The next day we immediately took him to the vet where we were able to get a better look at his wounds and condition.

While examining him we found that it looked as if someone had tried to castrate him, and failed. The wound was too clean to be simple barbed wire, or a sharp object. He had so many burs wrapped up in his fur, and he had three metal chains padlocked and burrowed into his skin and fur which we had to cut off with bolt cutters.

We had Lucky tested for heart worm, along with other blood born diseases and he came back negative!

Lucky was shaven down later that day, and was taken into surgery to be neutered, and have a few other things looked at.
