I think adding the price check request to the title will certainly help you out.

Have you tried looking for similar items on etsy as well? That could give you a pointer for what people are happy to pay for similar items (even if not pony related).

I think that you could try starting around $20-25 for existing characters and then adding on for more complicated designs and custom pillows.
