In fact, I think we should push back the deadline a little. Entries will be accepted until 10 pm Oct 31 (GMT) which gives you a bit over 47 hours from now. Color away!

I might be imagining things, but wasn't the original deadline midnight EST (seen now as strikethrew in op)? If so from my perspective CST, the original deadline was 11pm Oct 31st, now it's 5pm Oct 31st- six hours earlier? Just seeking some clarification, toying with the idea of entering very last minute...

No, the original deadline was midnight, i.e. the first minute of Oct 31st, or the last minute of Oct 30 (EST). I admit I was confused by "midnight" as well, being a night owl myself... It makes more sense to end the contest in the evening though, hence the extension (plus we were hoping to see more activity!) so grab your pens for those last minute entries! Sorry about the time zone switch and not giving you a full 24 hours extra time, it's for your European Mods' convenience... and to leave you some time for trick-or-treating and partying, of course.
