ebay buyer question
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:35:14 PM »
i have a pretty expensive pony that i have listed, and someone just bought it now, for, well. more than i thought it was worth. (the buy it now, is free, so i had a minimum you could have there).
but the ebayer, is brand new, no feedback, made the account today. bought and paid for the pony.

with ebay's new policy of refund for the buyer, i'm afraid this might be a scam.
what should i do?
i don't want to lose out on a 50$ pony....

can i cancel a transaction, just because someone has zero feedback?
it just seems super fishy. the user name has a lot of random letter and numbers. seems like something someone generated.

last half looks like this "......._js1j6x9syl   "

Looks hinky to me.  Not a clue on the cancel bids thing, but if you can, my Spidy sense says do.

my friend who's been selling on ebay forever. recommend i still send it, but send it with insurance.
what she said is if they claim it came damaged, the usps insurance should reimburse me.
i'm gonna take new pictures of the pony with tomorrow's paper, in case they claim it has more problems, or they try to pass another pony off as mine.

that's a great idea ,to insure the package make new photos with attention to small details.
And you are good to go.
It's really unsettling to have a buyer with that random name and no feedback. Ughhhh
Good Luck!

hehe funny mum. Maybe take photos of it packaged up and with postage too, I had a friend do this as she sent a parcel without tracking, the buyer claimed it never arrived and issued a chargeback, it was a bit of drama but in the end cause she had the photo of the item being sent with the postage receipt paypal gave her money back :)

I'm wary of zero feedback new members too but everyone has to start somewhere...
I had a smiliar thing happen recently - a newbie with numbers in a different country bought an item from me on BIN, but they paid right away. They didnt pay  for  tracked/DC shipping method but I sent it that way anyways just incase ;)  So i guess what Im saying is go with your friends advice and send it but with insurance/tracking/delivery confirmation etc and also take plenty of pics incase the person tries swapping it for a damaged one . I'd take pics of the outside of the packaging too - especially since unfortunately there *are* a decent number of scammers roaming evilbay these days
Hopefully everything will turn out fine but its always best to take precautions :awake:

i added signed delivery confirmation. so if they really want the pony, they have to sign for it.
so they can't lie and say it didn't show up.
i got permission from the postman at the post office to take picture while he taped it up, and showed him that the item was inside so at least i have a witness who works for the government XD.
can't say i didn't send it.

i really hope this goes well, cuz if it does then i made up half of the funds needed to buy my marty mcfly doll so i can preorder it next week. though i suppose i should wait till they leave feedback or the claims period is up before i celebrate.

update. so the package was out for delivery today and this is the message that was on the tracking.
"Notice Left No Authorized Recipient Available)"

how many times do they try before it gets sent back to me?
i'm not surprised, just not sure what to do.

I actually don't believe they try again, though I have seen a mailman do it for me in the same day. Basically, they left a note for the buyer telling them when and where to pick it up, if they do, it will be marked as delivered. If not, the only source I have found for return to sender is 15 days.

I wouldn't panic yet. Maybe they live somewhere where the postal service didn't feel like they could drop the parcel off safely.

good to know on the return time.
and actually it's a signed delivery confirmation. with the situation as its been. i didn't want to risk the person saying they never got it.
so i was covering my bases.

You should be fine they cant really claim it is lost if it says no authorized recipient, if they don't pick it up and sign for it that is their fault and it shouldn't be held against you. However I am not sure if ebay would make you resend it at your expense if it came back to you.
