A bit late, and hopefully it doesn't throw my partner off, but I've answered a few more questions.

I went to the mall yesterday. WOW, lots of folks there. Maybe for Labor Day sales or maybe because it's the "last" day of summer (in terms of school starting today.)

I found some goodies already and bought some. Since I haven't been in an Arena swap for a few years, I think my pent-up swap desires are coming out in full force. The person might be in for a little spoiling. :lookround: :P

How game are you at trying foods or drinks from other countries/cultures?  Anything you would rather avoid flavours wise? (just as an example, chili, bacon, chocolate)
I love trying new things and will eat anything! :)

Do you like smelly stuff? Candles, bubble bath, soaps, etc?
I do, but I don't like floral scents. Send me something cherry scented and I'll love you forever.  Don't send me bath items, I don't have a tub. :)

Are you looking for a mug for any place (Home/Work/School etc) in particular?
I need a new mug for work, I broke the one I had there.  But please don't send me any of those "funny" job related mugs, I'm not that kind of a person.

Would you prefer mugs that are Dishwasher/Microwave safe?
I would.

Happy b-day Tiki!!!

Wow you guys have been busy, I took a nice long relaxing weekend with the family. It was much needed but now I am ready to get to shopping for my partner!!

How game are you at trying foods or drinks from other countries/cultures?  Anything you would rather avoid flavours wise? (just as an example, chili, bacon, chocolate)  I would be game, but again no chocolate and I tend to like salty or savory flavors. (I have to second archidraca with the no insects)

Do you like smelly stuff? Candles, bubble bath, soaps, etc? A lot of bath and beauty products have eucalyptus in them so please use caution. I prefer light and clean scents like cucumber, sandalwood and lilac, but nothing overly fruity, floral or overpowering. My hands are always dry in the winter from working with so much paper so I do use a lot of hand creams and cuticle oils.  I am really big into nail polish and nail art so polishes and decals would be awesome.

Are you looking for a mug for any place (Home/Work/School etc) in particular? Home and work, but they are interchangeable, my office is very low key.

Would you prefer mugs that are Dishwasher/Microwave safe? Yes but don't mind hand-washing (in fact only hand wash at work), just make sure it is marked or you let me know if it is hand-wash only.

It's interesting how the thought of insects is so gross to everyone.  I think it's because of TV, we all think they'll be full of gross goo, when actually they are apparently more like eating chips.  Bugs are super popular snacks like candy in places that eat them.  And imagine how much better the environment and animal welfare would be if everyone just ate bugs instead of other animals?

Not judging anyone at all.  I don't eat meat, but even if I did the idea of eating a bug squicks me out, but still, I think it's interesting.

I think it's because bugs in the western culture are seen as pests and spreaders of diseases that many people are really reluctant to the thought of eating bugs. Just as in some cultures people don't eat pigs, because pig is considered a dirty animal.

yeah, you're probably right.  Like I said above too though, on tv you see some one eat a bug and it leaks goop and they dry retch. Which apparently just doesn't happen in real life. But yeah, there is a thing where it's hard for anyone to put something in two categories.  Which is also why most people don't want to eat cats or dogs, because they are pets.

I would eat most anything but I draw the line with creepy crawlies. I will, however, watch that guy on TV that goes around the world eating odd stuff.

I think my issue comes from my insane fear of spiders and just the thought of bugs leads to thoughts of spiders and leads to nightmares which I will now have tonight! I better go read a happy book and inspect my bedroom now.

I definitely think it's part of a culture thing. And there's the gross-out factor.

But even if we all ate bugs instead of meat, I think it could lead to insect-welfare issues and could potentially hurt the environment because of all the good things insects do for our ecosystem. Granted, that would be many years down the line.

Anywho...

I don't think I ever had an absolute favorite mug. I do prefer bigger ones.

I went shopping today. I got everything but the mugs. Woot!

My favorite mug is probably one of these two. I like that they're both larger than normal and they both have sculpted shapes. Marie's face is 3D and her nose comes out of the mug (hard to explain lol). And the animal print mickey ears are all bubbled out on the mug. So their sculpts are neat, plus they're both themed to things I like.
