Plush #3 is underway but mostly taking a backseat until I either finish my pony fursuit, or say "nope, I can't finish this in time for Halloween." At any rate, plush #3 will have some clothing which requires me to buy MOAR FABRIC, and I'd like a little advice.

I have plans for a future plush and I intend to go all out on him...nothing but the finest of materials will do. This fancy little guy wears a tuxedo jacket. (No, it's not Fancy Pants.) Does anyone know what kind of material actual suits and tuxedos are made of?

O have no clue what tuxedo jackets are made out of.  Maybe you can go to the thrift store and find an old suit to butcher?

I asked about the suit jacket material on Facebook too, and was told "fine wool". I wasn't totally sure what that meant, but I browsed around Fabricland last time I was there and found the absolute PERFECT material. I forget it's exact name, but I know the word "suiting" was in there!

A quick update...I'm going to include pics of my pony fursuit here too! It's basically just a giant plushie, the only difference being that I'm the stuffing. At the moment, I'm attaching the mane to the head and I'm VERY happy with how he's turning out. He's far from flawless, but I'm liking him more and more all the time.

I'm also very thankful that I bought a pack of curved needles. I haven't found them useful until now. Trying to ladder stitch this mane on, I know I would have broken a straight needle by now.

Gauging interest for a near=future project: I need to start squirreling money away for a vacation, and my plushies might be able to help me. Do you guys think anyone would be interested in g1 to g4 birthflower ponies? I already have the perfect colors on hand, so they'd be super convenient to make.

Your little beanie pony is ABSOLUTELY adorable!     And your fursuit looks cool, it is kind of hard to see in that picture though.

They might do well.  I'm not personally all that wild about the birthflower ponies but I know many people like and collect them.  But that beanie pony is just so over-the-top cute I would consider getting one anyway.    I wonder what the price would be like?  You could even offer to embroider a name and birthdate on the pony somewhere to personalize it for an extra fee.  It could make a cute baby gift.

*blows dust off* Been quite a while since I had something to post here! Have some WIP pics.

AnY Pony's body is finally done! He's far from perfect, but pretty good for the first time using the valleyviolet stallion pattern. Those contrasting hooves are more work than I thought! (The dark brown fabric doesn't like to be photographed. I'll take better pics when he's completely done.)

I don't remember exactly when I started making plushies...Scootaloo was the first, and I think I made her in late 2013 or early 2014. So I haven't been making plushies for very long, but I invested in a fantastic pattern, and I've had previous sewing experience with making two fursuits. The plushies turned out MUCH better.

I REALLY tried to keep track of how long Cosmos took to make, but it just didn't happen. I'll work on a plush for 15 or 20 minutes here and there at work, an hour here and there at home, or my favorite is to put on a podcast or Let's Play on YouTube and zone out. I'd believe 20+ hours (the embroidery alone on Cosmos took 10), but I've never managed to actually keep track.

Having said that, $40 probably seems pretty low, and I'm sure it is. It also seems fair to me. I'm not using fancy materials...yet, I didn't make the base patterns that I use, and I want people to actually buy the things! I'm not trying to make a profit. I make these for the sheer joy of doing it, but it would be nice to get other people to pay for my materials.

Having said that,  this year is a little different. I have a vacation coming up in September that I hope these plushies will help to pay for, and I have an EPIC Christmas planned that won't come cheaply either. Every little bit will help immensely.

Cosmos turned out lovely! Great job on the symbol especially. As for your stallion, I can imagine the hooves are a lot of work - but they look amazing in contrast with the dark body! Looking forward to seeing him completed!
