So, is there much in the way of merch like books, plushies etc, like there is with FiM?

Yes, I'd say even more than FiM but I'm not a big g4 fan so I don't pay much attention to it!

There is a ton of G1 merch! I'm sure one of the big merch collectors will pop in here and tell you all about all the different goodies!

I personally have books, plushies, puzzles, stickers, postcards, and a few other things. I have seen much more than that though :)

I do know about the G1 comics as I've been trying to get my hands on one or two for quite a while!

Yeah there is a lot of G1 stuff out there.  I still see new items yet.

My little Wiki has a great general page with links to individual sections with a lot of pictures.

http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G1_Merchandise

Dream Valley used to have an amazing puzzle list and assorted merchandise, but she had to take it down when she moved the site.  She has put the plush page back up:

http://www.kimsites.net/dreamvalley/plush.html

I could probably track down an old list of puzzles, books and some other stuff.  I have to find the right file (and probably convert it from MSworks to Microsoft Word).  I think most of it is on the wiki site.

Not to mention the lunchboxes, thermoses, sleeping bags, at least one luggage set that I've seen, purses (two of which came with exclusive baby ponies), wallets, board games, and Target recently had a new released journal with Firefly and Sundance on it (though being new, it technically doesn't count as G1?).
My creativity keeps running into a lack of time and resources.
I'm also available via twitter at @Kazzellin :)

So many projects!! What do I want to work on? :awake:

Ponylandpress.com also has some nice pictures for the merchandise.

You literally can just go into Google and search vintage My Little Pony (insert a word here) and find nearly anything!

Stickers, lunchboxes, clocks, etc.

You can find some new "retro" MLP merch in US and UK stores. There are threads about them now and then :)

There are porcelain figurines that are quit lovely.

One of my favorite pieces of random merch from my childhood ( and I still have it) is a bakery set that came with a plastic mold for making pony shaped candies.

I think everyone here has summed it up perfectly...you think FiM has a lot of merch, try 10+ years of world wide merch for G1. There are simply too many things to list. Basically if you could stick an MLP logo on it back and aim it at a kids market in the 80s someone probably licensed it :P
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
