What do you do when...

My grail was Ice Crystal.  I spent years eyeing him on eBay and the like and finally splurged on him for my birthday last year.

My ultimate grail to end all grails is Greek Ladybird. I barely scrape by as is, I'd never be able to afford her or find a seller willing to let me pay her off the rest of my life.

I'm a waiter. I have many ponies on my wantlist which are well out of my budget, but I figure one day, I will get them. Patience my sweet! I have many such ponies now in my collection who I have happened upon by chance, good deals or luck on auction sites. Never thought I'd get German Skydancer, or more recently Crumpet or Magenta Satin n Lace!

Magenta Satin n Lace was a small triumph for me. Always admired and desperately wanted.... only she is well out of my pony budget. However, I found an ebay auction and spotted her well hidden behind another pony in one of the pics, and figured if there was any chance I was going to get her, it was then! And now... she is mine 

Now for such luck with Red Roses and the like lol!

Being patient! That's my advice, ever since I started online collecting in 1996/1997, I've wanted ponies that are somewhat unattainable. But if you save and are patient, they'll come to you and often times at good deals!

Nbbe baby ribbon has been my grail since 1997. I just got Nbbe baby gusty this past year who've I wanted since. But I have a hard time spending $50+ on a pony unless it's a bargain (all my nirvanas have been found second hand or won super cheap) so with patients, they'll pop up!

My grail is Quarterback. I know he isn't too hard to find as all those 1000$ Nirvanas or Rapunzel, but everytime he pops on eBay, my budget doesn't allow me to get him!

My current grail, on the other hand... It's Re Unicorno, or Italian Majesty. I doubt I'll ever get him since he's so rare and expensive, but he's so pretty... *__*

I managed to get VERY lucky with my three grail ponies.
First was princess tiffany .. I LOVE monochrome ponies and it seemed to me like she was the prettiest.
I tried for a long time to get her and finally a wonderful soul on here    dori86 took  mercy on me and sold me one complete with her comb and wand for a good reasonable price.
One of my others was Hollywood.. now like MANY many other of the mail order ponies Holly is expensive as all get out.. but through a sheer act of the powers that be...i got her for a REALLY good price.
and lastly was rainbow flash.. she was hard to find but mango came through for me.
bascially for that last one i carried my lu nch to work for a week and drove like a lil old lady to conserve gas.
Just be patient and save and you'll get im eventually!

Unattainable is all a matter of your pony budget What may be attainable for one person may not be for another.

I agree Nightlight is one of those ponies who you simply need to save up for and then wait for an accurately priced one and not an over priced BIN. Just think of it as being that you will get the Nightlight who was supposed to be in your collection as and when she is ready to show up; dont rush to grab one and overspend; take your time, save up and then get searching. You ll find that perfect girl.

I think getting an expensive pony is no different than buying anything else in life which is a luxury and not a necessity. You need to budget for it, save up, sometimes sell other things to part fund and simply have patience and determination!

Wow! Ice Crystal is amazing. I can see why you wanted him so much.

I am going to be patient and save. It seems that some of the fun with having a grail is the hunt too. I like the idea of continuing to search for her and finding the one that's just right for me. Thanks Hathorcat for that sweet thought.

Really, my only grail is to complete my Nirvana Macau pony collection! Only about 5 more to go

My only problem is that I would save up money for a grail and then not want to blow it all on just one pony...this is why I'm a terrible collector.
