How does the avi effect you?

so this is something i've been wondering for a while.
when you read someone's post do you notice their avatar?
does it effect the tone of which you read the post?
any other thoughts?

i know it does for me
there are a few people that have shocked or sly looks on their avi character's faces, and i can't keep that emotion out of the way i read what they wrote.
one pony has a sly sweetie belle avi (which i love for the record) and i usually think... hmmm what she planning? i usually laugh at myself and try to just read the post.

Zapper in the mharena for example has an awesome avi with Sailor moon, and every time i read the post i hear Usagi's voice saying it.

I generally tend to imagine people AS their avatar without realising I always think, whenever I go to a meetup, that people should have little nametags with their name and current avatar. It'd make recognising them a whole lot easier.

Lol, I do have a nametag with my avatar's picture on it! I had some lovely pony friend draw it up at the 2012 VA Meet. And this year, Buddafly made us both pins with our avatars to wear to the Fair!

But yeah, it's going to be weird walking into the Fair and seeing a herd of humans rather than ponies.

It doesn't really effect how I read posts, though. I do tend to read straight down and usually only notice the avatars after.

I've had the same avatar since. . . since I signed up, and I just changed it yesterday. . .  Oops.

It just didn't fit?  I've never really have been into G4, though I do love Rarity because of the show ( what I have seen of it ) but I'm totes a G1 fan, so figured it was more fitting.

I remember people on the forum by their avatar or signature, if it's a picture. And images they use make kind of a first impression. If someone, for example, has grumpy looking avatar, I'll probably see their post as sarcastic or mean. And after seeing their avatar for a few times, I tend to identify it with them, as if it's how they look and what expression they usually have IRL.

 Do the same as Moonsugar. I very much imagine pony avatars as people's personalities. For instance, recently, on all the forums I'm on, I've been lending my account to May from Pokemon, eg I use her as my avatar, because I adore pokemon, and I look exactly like her in real life, same hair colour, eye colour, shape, you name it. I always pick images of her that resonate with me, like for instance, my current one because I feel like I hope to find love *oh so enigmatic* anyway, I always see people's avatars, and they resonate with me, as how the person is IRL.

That's how I feel anyway.

I find it fun to identify people by their avvi's. Most of them are quite cute. :o) I'm very much a name person (I have a job where I work with tens of thousands of names) so I tend to recognize people even if they change stuff up. We've had so many new members over the last few years that it's hard to keep up sometimes.


Oh, gosh yes, I love Zapper's unicorn guy (you gotta check it out here LOL). She's had that one forever.

When people change their avatars I get so confused!  Sometimes I think it is a whole new person for a while, lol.  With that in mind, I never change mine and it is the same on every website I use, haha.

Sometimes I see people on other boards who use the same name and the same signature, and it takes me forever to realize that they're the same person just because the avatars are different!
