I just thought I would share that today is the 70th anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy during WW2.  ^.^
So on that note, Happy D Day!

Yes here in France, the 2 first principals TV Channel TF1 and France 2 show in direct the celebration of the 70th Anniversary, a very nice celebration with lots of anciens soldiers and European and North American Présidents.

As a French women I would like to say :

Many thanks to all those soldiers who have given their life for Freedom in Europe  :thanks: :thanks:

for sure here some of Pony friends have family members who have participated  ;)

I had a great uncle in Normandy. I never got to meet him. He survived Normandy but was killed later on in the war. I wish that I could have meet him. I'm sure it would have been amazing to hear his stories.

My husbands papaw was in WWII as well but he got lucky and drove an ambulance for German captives here in the states.

While I was in the military I got to meet a few WWII vets and all there retellings of what they had seen and done was done of the best things I have gotten to experience.

I'll never forget those who came before me that faught nor will I forget those who fight now and in the future. Thank you for all that you do or have done.

You tend to forget about days like this until they are brought up, then realize just how important they are <3

I don't tend to remember the anniversary date of D-Day, but when I do I think of a distant cousin who survived D-Day only to be killed in the Battle of the Bulge. He was 20 years old.
