Spray sunscreen on fading pink hair?
« on: May 12, 2014, 06:32:09 PM »
I have my baby princess sparkle out on display in my bedroom. She has very pink hair. She is in a spot that never gets direct sunlight.
The window is usually covered with a black out curtain, but because its been so nice out we have the curtain and window open. There isnt any direct sunlight on the ponies but the room is pretty bright. Im getting paranoid about her hair fading. Im thinking of putting her away in the dark until the airconditioning goes on and the curtains are closed again.
I was wishing that there was a spray-sunblock for ponies. I know it would probably damage the pony more than the fading and I would never actually try it,  but it just made me curious if anyone has ever actually experimented with it?

I think I'd just tuck her away somewhere until the A/C came on :P I've seen ponies with some pretty wacky stuff in their hair and none of it seems to do them good if it's left on for very long.

The only time I've used spray sunscreen/sunblock on a pony was when I was removing a symbol for customizing. It works real well "catching" the paint so the acetone will clean and not smear it.
I'd be worried that using something like that on pony hair (especially fading pink) would end up having the opposite result to what you'd be trying to do. Like others have said I would store her away until you know she can be sunshine free.

Not anything I have ever considered to be honest - greasy pony hair? So I cant imagine its something anything has ever considered. If you realise its a bad idea, I would think that probably occurred to most people as well.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I've used many a product on my ponies, but never anything to really protect fading hair. Sounds like you've got a great plan in place to protect her already. :o)

Do NOT do it! Some sunscreens can actually dissolve paint.

My sister wore a plastic necklace with a print on in while also wearing sunscreen, it dissolved the paint on her necklace and turned her neck blue.

So I would imagine it may have some nasty effects on a pony too!:/

There's plenty of UV protect/colour protect hair products out there. I'm sure some would help. *shrug*

Maybe tuck her hair under a hat? I received a Satin N' Lace from an eBay lot, still wearing her dress, and the tip of her tail was almost pure white - but the part hidden under her wedding gown was super pink! Maybe just pop her into an outfit for the summer months that covers her hair!

OOOH I love that idea! Hmmm maybe the bunny costume since its white and shouldnt leave marks? Now I have to go searching through storage.

*starts eyeing up other fading pink haired display ponies... what outfit would be safe to put them in*

I might have to start sewing self-colored sun outfits....big floppy sun hats and flowy sundresses...

You never know, maybe someone experimented on a bait lol

Kinda sounds like it would make an interesting experiment! Preferably on a common/later-gen pony (if any of them have fading pink?)

They have window clings that claim to block UV light. They're clear or lightly tinted and stick inside your windows and should cut down on UV light.

I'm pretty sure G3 Pinkie Pie has fading pink hair, and we have no shortage of G3 Pinkies ;w;.
