So I managed to get the eyes out of my fakie... filled it with clay and went to bake like usual. Check it when it was done and the whole head melted! D: So now I'm looking for another fakie bait I like.....

I thought we were not supposed to start anyway before the 20th? :o In any case it's a shame your fakie melted, I guess one can't trust fakie plastic with ovens.

I originally thought the same thing that we weren't suppose to touch our bait until the 20th too, but then as I kept checking this page I read a few comments where others were prepping their baits and no one said they couldn't so I figured I'd go ahead and prep my bait too. Oh well. Live and learn.  the hunt for another bait is on...

Prepping is fine, however I believe the sculpting of new eyes is part of the customizing aspect, not the prepping.

I know what I want to try... When we get the 'all clear' I will try baking my pony too. I will stand by the oven and watch... it's a pretty hard plastic. Harder than a g4.

Yikes!  Be careful with this super cheap plastic!  (I typically wouldn't call any sort of sculpting "prepping" but I do see your point there )

The boiling water method might be a better option for these poor ponies.

I actually had 2 other fakies in this pose and have customised them as practice but I haven't planned what to do with this girl yet, it'll involve sculpting though! Hopefully inspiration will take hold soon, until I've got clay in my hands and hours to experiment I can't know for sure what I'll be entering.

Okay, I finally decided on which fakies to use! Pardon the terrible picture, I naturally waited until 3AM to take my photos! I'll try to get a better 'before' shot in the sunlight tomorrow!

Here is my Tara pony; she arrived to me in a lot of baits I bought, painted up like this! She was airbrushing practice for her first owner, and although I thought the paint job was totally bold and exciting, it was scuffed in quite a few places, and I had no way of repairing it. So tonight I stripped her, and she's the most lovely shade of lilac underneath! I'll give her another go with the acetone tomorrow, there's still some stains I'm hoping will come off.

And here's my Hasbro-pose fakie! I was a little worried about using her - since she's my only fakie in that pose and color - and then I realized, what else would you use her for, silly, she's already stripped!

Snapdragon, I love the shade of that Hasbro-pose fakie Can't wait see what you do with her. I also love the airbrushing on that other fakie, kinda shame it's so scuffed, but I'm sure you'll make something beautiful of her, too.

Lonewolf- that is such a pretty fakie!

Snapdragon- mine is the same pose of Tara pony! So curious to see how they both come out... Also, I tossed mine in the oven with another sculpted pony I was baking and he did fine (at 215*F)
