Have you ever seen blue hair turn green??

I've got this pony mystery.  Maybe it's just something common that I've missed, but I haven't come across it before.  A friend of mine through animal rescue gifted me her old pony collection, as she doesn't have time or room for them anymore.  She dug it out of storage because she knew I collected them, and wanted to thank me for taking in fosters.  Among them were a few that may have been more recently decarded (like, not done in the 80s, anyway). For example, she gave me 3 watercolour baby sea ponies that had their combs, floats, ribbons and backcards, and their hair was like new.  I asked her how she had such minty ponies, and she laughed, but she never did answer me.  I'm not sure if that means she bought them for loads on ebay, or decarded them herself.

In any case, I've got this Banana Surprise.  She's the nicest I've ever encountered.  Her symbols, eyes and blush are perfect, her hair is curly like it's never been brushed, and she smells AMAZING!  There's only one problem....

Her hair is green.  Like, seashell green!  It's not from boiling her with a chartreuse pony, because her curl is perfect.  There's no other sign of discolouring on her.

I wonder if something happened to her while she was on card or something.  Has anyone ever seen anything like this happen?

I know there's a few ponies out there who  have been found with hair in 2 different shades, maybe she is one, too!  I want to say one of the flutters has 2 different shades of yellow possible,  does that sound right?

Are her feet marked HK, or China?  that may explain it, too, if she was made in both places...

I don't know...her colour looks pretty normal to me on the photo. Her hair was never blue to start with. It's aqua. She will be a variant if she has blue. Her mane end and tail does look like they have yellowed/discoloured a bit, so that might have added to the tint to make it look greener. I'm sure a light wash, some fresh air and light sunbathing should take away the yellowness.

I have a Princess Primrose who's tail has gone Sea Green while her mane remains blue

In the pictures it looks like her tail is green and the bottom section of her mane is green but the roots are still her original aqua colour! She looks awesome that way!

I would guess something has happened to yellow her hair over time and that gives the impression of it actually changing colour. Really neat.

I would guess sunlight did that.

I hope you're not disappointed its fadind. She became even more beautiful whith smooth grade from blue to green

Yep, I've had this pony close to half a dozen times... I remember one had this discoloration, also had a bbe baby half note with it too and I'm pretty sure they came together. I like how yours looks in the pics. :o)

I actually remember getting my Banana Surprise brand new on the card when I was a kid. My girl has a teal mane, but a greenish tail. They are a few shades different. And she always has. It really bugged me when I was a kid, so I rarely played with her. She still in lovely condition today.

I saw a Banana Surprise in auction recently with the aqua mane, green tail thing...I thought it was quite fetching!

You know my Baby Cotton Candy's hair had yellowed over the years too. After several washes a few years ago, it became pink again. I had always thought it was just faded before then. I wonder if that would work on this.

I guess blue tends to turn into a greenish colour when it fades (with pony bodies, too). Nevertheless, she looks pretty amazing with the gradient hair!

My guess would be maybe it has to do with her fragrance making a chemical reaction with her porous mane? Especially if she was in a box without fresh air for a while.

I cant offer a better explaination than the others but I will say that I think she looks awesome like that and I'd leave her that way if she was mine
