EqG Rainbow Rocks Early Concept Art + Rival Band Name

We of MLP Merch stumbled upon a PDF on a website yesterday. And I wanna share it!

This image was found in a presentation held by Hasbro Australia in September 2013, which is about a month before the first image of Rainbow Rocks merch was found. The presentation contains information about current and upcoming releases, of which Rainbow Rocks is the most recent. The picture shows Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, DJ PON-3 and another character (of which I don't know the identity) in bright neon colors. The Rainbow Power accents are visible in their hair and a little hint of cutie mark face paint is visible on Rainbow Dash.

Another interesting find in the presentation is that the Mane Six is competing against "Trixie and the Illusions". Since we've already seen that Trixie is in the Rainbow Rocks toy line, it's very likely that this will be the name of the rival band!

I admit, I actually like how the girls look in this picture/ early concept art better than their current Rainbow Rocks look. But then again, I do have a bit of a weakness for bright/loud/neon colors combinations.
The other merchandise in the blog looks neat to me as well. I want those shoes that's in one of the photos. xD

I think the white one wit purple and green hair is Rarity, because of the eyes

LOL! I was thinking the same thing! The whole Rainbow Rocks concept has me thinking of a cartoon I use to watch that has "Universal Appeal"! LOL

It's interesting to see the concept art and how it's evolved into the dolls released so far. Looks like all of them were given microphone headsets initially, but now only Twilight and Pinkie have them whilst Dash and Fluttershy were given winged heaphones. It would have been nice to see those full dresses on the dolls instead of rubber shirt + fabric skirt. The leggings, heels and hair streaks have all survived the refinement process, but we lost Dash's platforms! Imagine how well she would have stood up with those... No more Rainbow Crash dolls.

Ooooo this is such an interesting post!

1.) I see the cartoon network logo! Is FiM really airing on Cartoon Network? I told my friend (who is a mom but her kids don't normally watch FiM) that she must be mistaken when she said she saw it on Cartoon Network. I thought it was only on the Hub!

2.) Whoa there's a line that says "quest for a kingdom" on one of the slides about Rainbow Rocks. Maybe the theory some fans have about Twilight getting her own kingdom is true! o.O If so I'm assuming that's a season 5 plotline...

3.) Poor, poor AJ..... At least her apple cutie mark is still in the rainbow of the Rainbow Rocks logo? >_>;

Final designs better than concept art in every case. It's good to see development going in the right direction from time to time.

Haha I thought it's interesting how the presentation used Spring and Fall to indicate timelines because the seasons in Australia are actually reversed.

I do like the name Trixie & the Illusions. Sounds way more awesome than the Mane 6.
