Be gentle :P

So softs will all react a little different to cleaning - depending on the break down of the glue. So some you could scrub and have very little flocking loss while others will loose flocking if you just brush them over!

Make sure to test whichever cleaning method you are going to use underneath the hoof of the pony - that way you will know roughly how the rest of the body will cope.

Try a tepid water and then massage into the coat a gentle shampoo or soap and rinse with tepid water. I like to use my fingertips to clean the pony but some people prefer a toothbrush.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I wouldn't use a toothbrush in fear of the flocking coming off, so I also use my fingers.
Hathorcat gave you some good advice. Don't use hot water, it may cause flocking loss!

I am Pro at cleaning up so softs  I use my fingers too. I also use Dawn dish soap as this is gentle and removes and oil or grease which some shampoos will not remove. After rinsing soap off I also put a little bit of conditioner on the pony, let it sit for 5-10 minutes then rinse.....makes them really nice and "soft" :P

I THINK I have read somewhere that people have used Peroxide on White So softs. I would think a soft bristled tootbrush in soft motions might help, but like Hathor said it's a personal preference thing.
I'm honestly scared to clean my childhood SS's.

I only have two SS ponies but they came out of the spa looking nice. I rinsed the pony under cold tap water, holding my hand above the pony to break the stream of water and make it gentler. I then lathered a bar of antibacterial soap in my hands, and gently massaged the lather over the pony. I brushed them over very very gently with a soft toothbrush, making sure to go lighter on areas that already had flocking loss. Then rinse under cold water again, grab a piece of paper towel and press it against the pony to remove excess water, and let them dry. After drying I ran the toothbrush over them again just a tiny bit to fluff up any flocking that looked flattened. I think the trick to using a toothbrush is to start just pressed against the pony and then brush up and away, as if you were trying to wipe a spill off of carpet. If you swoop towards the pony it puts pressure on the flocking. Both my Wind Whistler and Truly had strong glue though, I don't know if this would accidentally deflock one with degraded glue.
