Anyone else interested in comics and/or manga?

I would be! Huge comic nerd, haha.

Ooh! Well, I've got no feedback because I haven't really done any trading/buying/selling... so I haven't been able to get in on swaps even when I've been active on forums. But I think a paperback swap (not necessarily paperback, but paperbacks are great) would be really awesome.

Woo look at the posts. I don't really log in during April Fools. :P

I love media mail myself since I remember years ago sending books priority to Canada. I thought I was going to die from the price. Now if people would prefer to keep cost down and stick to media mail we wouldn't even need extras, just more money for books. :P

I wouldn't think comics or manga would be a bad idea as long as when the price is set they are reasonable within the range. I know some comics/manga can get pretty pricey.

Alright next questions what would be a reasonable spending limit for you guys? I know a lot of swaps seem to hit around $25-30. I don't want to break anyone though.

Do you guys want extras or just books?

I tend to prefer less extras & more substance but wouldn't be opposed to receiving something small. Still, I suggest that we keep the extras budget low.

As for the spending limit, I will probably consent to anything you US people decide. Not being in the States, it won't be as easy (or inexpensive) for me to shop for English books (which I suppose most of you would prefer to receive), but I'd be happy to give it a go.

I haven't heard of media mail. I need to look up more info.

Edit: I guess Canada Post is not interested in such a function.

You know you could fit quite a lot of books into some of the priority flat rate boxes. One of the few times the flat rate price is worth it.

A wonderful warning about media mail, only use it if you are ok with everything being opened and inspected and sometimes having your books accidentally mixed up and traded out with someone else's books. Been there, done that, never using media mail again.

It can also take 4-5 weeks to get to its destination, apparently.

My parents ship hundreds of books a week via media mail and have no more issues than they would with regular mail - except for impatient buyers, lol. It is a bit slower but their packages usually arrive within 2 weeks.  But you do have to be honest about what you are shipping - no trying to slip extras that are not media into a media mail box.

I'd be interested, depending on when this swap is, and the requirements. I would prolly have to remain domestic, though, as international postage would likely get too expensive.

I'd prefer physical books - as it's a swap I'd prefer to receive something physical, rather than an electronic gift. The fun part about presents is unwrapping them and wondering what it is, and with this kinda swap I'd be wanting to send people books I've loved and would hope they love, rather than just a gift card.
I'd have no issue with second-hand books, either, provided the margins hadn't been written in and the text hadn't been underlined or anything.
Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

so when are we starting this swap.
i wanna go buy books.
already know what book i want to send as my favorite read.

do we have an idea of spending limit?
if we go gently used books, and paperback are ok, then you can get several books for even 20$
personally i don't care about the condition, so long as i can read it without it falling apart. if i really like the story i buy a second copy in hard cover anyway.
(donate my first copy to the school or library)
i work with books at both of my jobs, so want to start this!!

Gently-used doesn't bother me, personally-- condition is important, but I've bought used books in excellent condition before. Age can't be helped, but aside from that one can always make sure a book hasn't been mistreated.

And I'm pro-extras generally, but that's because I like to slip extras into any package I mail out.

This is me exactly!!! The only ones I ask for in HB or really good condition are set completers  :)
As for the extras, I am ok either way- I like the idea of being able to ship medial mail and throw extras in a flat rate package  :)

so when are we starting this swap.
I'm still waiting to see if this swap generates enough interest. The last thing I want is to set it up, have it approved and then like four people join.  I'm keeping track of the number of people that seem interested, but I'm also making note of how many people that show interest have feedback ect.
When more people show interest I'll submit the swap plan I've typed up.
