I voted for Kiki's Delivery Service, but I think I've enjoyed every Hayao Miyazaki movie I've seen. I know it's pre-Ghibli, but Panda! Go Panda! was cute as well. I really want to see The Wind Rises.

Ugh! I completely forgot about Kiki's Delivery Service and went straight for Arrietty. It's hard to pick one they're all so good. But I must agree! Kiki was a movie I watched over and over again on VHS when I was little!

How is the new movie though? I want to see it, but I don't believe its showing in my town :/

There all so good Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle as well as Spirited Away were amazing as Ghibli binge for a bit, trying to catch up. How was Princess Mononoke? I heard it was good, but I have a really short attention span and I couldn't really get into it.

I just saw the Wind Rises yesterday with a good friend and it was AMAZING.  It totally blew me away.  So I voted for that, although the fact that I am all hyped up about it may have something to do with that.  Seriously, go see it in theaters while you can!

I purposely didn't vote for totoro (even though it's definitely in my top 3) because I figured that was such an obvious choice, so I'm surprised it doesn't have more votes!

I enjoyed The Wind Rises but it wasn't my favorite. It was clear that it was a film miyazaki was really in love with and as a last project for him it's something to be proud of for sure - beautiful, moving, perfectly understated and real in the ordinary day to day way that ghibli films do so well with the right amount of grander and majesty when it's needed. But the subject matter isn't for everyone, and I can imagine people who really love the more fantastical ghibli movies not enjoying this one as much.

I love Studio Ghibli! I've seen about half of these, the rest are on my list to watch as soon as I get the chance. My top favorites are Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. I voted for Princess Mononoke.

I should pick Princess Mononoke for its conservation message, but Whisper of the Heart really struck an even bigger chord with me.  I also loved Howl's Moving Castle and lots of others.  The only ones I've seen so far that I haven't really liked are Pom Poko and Porco Rosso.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

Spirited Away- always been a fan of monsters and mythological beasts, and it's quite the creature film! ^^

Totoro will always be close to my heart. I watched it at a sleepover in 2nd or 3rd grade (the original dub, not the Disney version - hey, it was 1993!) and I couldn't remember the title. It stuck with me and I was so excited when I finally found it again in high school. I proudly have a Catbus plush in my office (with all of my ponies...) and a large stuffed Totoro next to my bed :)

I haven't seen all of them yet, but I doubt anything could top Castle in the Sky for me.  :lovey:
It gave me such a warm, emotional feeling & the music's beautiful.
Hunting for G2 MLP & Pretty Pony Club magazines! :)

Not on the list but my absolute favorite: Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind.

Princess Mononoke is an easy second followed up by Spirited Away. For music, Spirited Away has the best. I've pretty much seen every Ghibli film except Earthsea and The Wind Rises. I bawled my eyes out at Grave of the Fireflies, even worse because it was in Japanese class and my teacher had to pause and ask if I was okay.

Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

Princess Mononoke is an easy second

As someone who vastly prefers Mononoke over Nausicaä, I'd be interested to know why you ranked Nausicaä higher with Mononoke as the follow-up and not the other way around. This is not to judge your tastes or interests :) I just always see Nausicaä as a rather preachy movie with a very black and white message and an unfortunately written heroine and Mononoke as the overall improvement. Is there something in Nausicaä you like better than in Mononoke?

I related a lot with the main character. I was always that kid trying to save every animal I found, even if it was some small and disgusting bug. It was the compassion for animals people otherwise disregard or misunderstand that resonated with me.

The heroine is not only a weird bug kid, but princess weird bug kid. And I liked having someone with a royal title tussling with bugs.

My favorites are Mononoke and Spirited Away- there are some movies there I haven't seen before so it looks like I'd better get on that!
